Fish Makes a Wish
If I were in a tank I'd make a wish, That God hadn't made me a goldfish, I'd be an eagle up in the sky, Floating free and flying high. Sitting high in my majestic perch, Scanning the land in a search, What to eat for my morning dish, A snake, a rodent but never a fish. Perhaps I'd choose to be a giraffe That might sound funny and make you laugh, But i could see the land far and wide, Up so high no need to hide. Now all creatures are below my knees, Eye to eye with the top of the trees, Alone up here to soak in the breeze, And enjoy a snack of tender young leaves. Maybe I would become a mighty rhino, Not an elephant, a lion or a hippo, With the best looking horn on the plains today, Everyone knows to get out of my way. Lowering my head you better step aside, Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, Huffing a bluff and stomping my feet, If you value your hide you better retreat. My dream is over, I'm still a goldfish, Still in my tank, didn't get my wish, No harm in dreaming but I can see, I am what God wanted me to be. I'm not on a perch, the plains, or in a tree, But swimming along in my little sea, Slick and cool wherever I go, Safe from the eagle, the giraffe and the mighty rhino.
