Kindergarten Philosophy
Riding the bus for the first time in kindergarten is a stressful endeavor. There are so many faces and so many confusing words flying through the air. I sat next to a girl, face and name forgotten. "How are you?" she asked. How...? I wondered how I am. How am I me? It was difficult to fathom how I am and how I became. "I don't know," I replied. This was a complicated question that required more time for pondering. My entire life came before me. All five years of existence scrolled back to the beginning, And I wondered how I used to not be, but now I am. How am I? The next day she asked the same question, "How are you?" This time I had an answer. "I was born," I replied. She seemed confused, as did I by both the simplicity and the complexity of the question. Then another question came, much like the first one. "Where are you from?" This too was very deep. It was hard to imagine where I came from, but I thought it through quickly this time. "My mom," I replied, though maybe I should have answered "God." This was beyond human comprehension, and beyond my mother. (True story) Written 4-8-18
