Poem
When you were born I was surprised, of this precious little girl of mine; looking up at me with big eyes of wonder, I cried tears of joy of this precious little girl of mine. I watched you as a little girl trying to grow up fast, wanting to play with the big kids as little as you were, you skinned your knees trying to keep up with the big kids as you played and laughed. Little did I know as a mom raising a rambunctious little girl as you were, you became a beautiful young lady right before my eyes, I cried. Tears I cried for my little girl as you grew you held the hurt and anger you felt inside I did not know. I watched you grow and fought with you and for you when you needed someone by your side, I stood by you side by side until I could not stand by your side no more, never a thank-you I got with a broken heart I cried seeing you so high. You told such lies to get out of trouble it broke my heart, yet I tried again so hard to get you help but the drugs took your beautiful mind from me, I cried. As a mom seeing my beautiful girl broken as you were as the evil of the drugs that took your beautiful heart and soul from me, I saw slowly as the light of your eyes went out, I cried. Seeing this once beautiful girl hating the world, her family and herself as the drugs took hold. As I watched from a far the road you have taken My little girl was so lost and broken, I cried. As I looked upon your face the hurt you have in your eyes in your heart the light has gone I cried. I tried to help once more as objects flew by my head, I saw the hatred in your eyes once more it broke my heart. For the beautiful girl that is my daughter lost to the drugs has taken the light from your soul I could not help no more. From tears of joy from watching you grow to tears of hurt to see you go down a path I could not go, for you will always have your mother’s love that will never go.
