Poem

I feel the need to take a walk,
On this empty street in the dark.
I need to cool my head and think this over,
It's like I carry the word on my shoulder. 

With the wedding cancelled,
After what tonight has happened. 
I finally regained my long lost freedom,
As I escaped from a true demon. 

Emotions are running high 
But somehow I feel like I could fly.
I was about make my life's biggest mistake 
I won't allow him anymore to take.

I was walking lost in my thought, 
When in the distance someone I spot.
Oh no! Why now? Why him?
All I want to do is run and scream.

He can tell that something is wrong,
He has known me for way too long. 
How could I tell the man I love,
That I was hit by the one with whom I was?!

Even if he doesn't love me, he's still my friend, 
He would never allow this to have a peaceful end.
I also know him all to well, 
He might kill that awful man.

In the end, all I could say, or rather ask,
Is to hug me while I put on a mask. 
In that moment, on the empty street,
His heartfelt hug was so bittersweet.
