What to Submit?
1 original, poem on the theme of
New Year's Resolutions.
The only form is limerick.
Have u ever carried a poem in your pocket for days upon end?
(I know I do! Last month it took me two days to write a four-lined Clerihew.)
The challenge is tweaking it til it comes out just perfect! Once you get that sense of pride, you run home, type it out , and post it on the Soup. This is one of those contests...Of course I'll never know if you carried your poem around in your pocket. I won't have the pleasure of seeing your worn out piece of crumpled sweaty paper; I'll just have to trust you on this one. Spend some time cultivating your best limerick.
Refer to PS's FORMs for instructions on limerick writing. Throw in some emotion too! If you've been trying to lose 20 pounds for 20 years and you are frustrated, let the audience know!
Syllable count needs to be excellent, but perfection doesn't always guarantee a top spot. Do your best. Confer with your other PS poets if you are stuck...Get a little help from your friends.
It's been a blast reading your work this year. Let's have a GREAT 2013!
