| Contest Description |
What to Submit? 1 original, poem on the theme of .............Beautiful Lies--This theme was inspired by Anne Lise's comment to a recent poem I wrote that included the line "The beautiful lies" followed with a Question mark--so write about beautiful lies--is it telling youngsters about Santa or the Easter Bunny etc., is it telling someone their singing is great or poem is wonderful (when it's not), is it fabricating a story that isn't true to entertain young or old, is it telling someone you know is terribly injured or going to die that everything is going to be okay--catch my drift?? Take it where you may!! Only the sonnet form is to be used, any sonnet form but please indicate which sonnet form you are using after your poem--NO NAMES PLEASE--PUT A DATE WRITTEN PLEASE--IF YOU DO A MODERN SONNET KEEP YOUR LINES OF "RELATIVE" EQUAL LENGTH SYLLABLE WISE PLEASE--(I happen to like meter and rhyme scheme done correctly in this form but if you can knock it out of the park like Cyndi can with some deviation TRY IT) Prizes Whatever Preparing Your Entry Submit one copy of your poem online. Format your poem. Please make your entry easy to read — no illustrations or fancy fonts. English Language Poems should be in English. Poems translated from other languages are not eligible, unless you wrote both the original poem and the translation. A Note to Poetry Contestants You are welcome to enter this contest, whether or not you won a prize in one of my previous contests.
