Craig, I came to check out your blog that you mentioned to me. I don't feel like I know enough to say very much on this topic. I think you were very diplomatic in this blog and I enjoyed seeing the comments people left. I never went to this zoo place to see it. I got one response from a poet who saw my poem there and who told me he liked it. That seems ok to me. I do not choose who sees my poems here either. All my poems are scattered online because of Google so it does not concern me if someone reads my stuff at a zoo site. But if some people were ousted unfairly for some reason, I don't understand what that is all about. anyway, I like the comment of Becca's directly below mine.

One last point,I have been publishing poetry on line for a decade or more and in my humble opinion PS is undoubtedly the 'best' poetry site on the web and I offer my thanks and give honour to the proprietor of PS for my development as poet here for the past 6+ years.Rgds Brian

By the by in regard to exposure of our poetry PS has a relative 'little known' but useful place for Poetry publications 'Poetry Store' (see link in the left hand column).I am sure it has resulted in a few sales for me and it is free as well.Rgds Brian

Thinking more about why we write verse.Vernon Scannell an English poet(from my home town) puts it this way 'The poet's need to try to find his own voice , a recognizable individual voice that carries the signature of his voice in almost every line . . . the unique tone being the consequence of the poet's rigorous search for truth ( his truth(, his absolute fidelity to the nature of the experience he was exploring.' This is perhaps for me more important than being paid a few cents.Rgds Brian

I am happy that PoemZoo might bring some more exposure to my poetry.(That's the reason I joined PS in the first place). If PS makes a few pennies from it, so be it. Yes I've sold a few of my 100+ publications on kindle but let's face it poetry just does not sell.Sadly we all pursue a 'minority' art form and if just one other reads our efforts and perhaps another is encouraged to pick up a pen to write that's about all we can ask .Rgds Brian

Come on tps stop hiding behind your greed, you have broken, the common law of decency. A poet stands up to you, and just happens not to be of financial benefit to you, and you then make an example of the poet..with removal....Mmmmmmmm as Debbie would say, you have left yourself wide open to more than just debate!

I really think that PS thought they were creating a site (Poem Zoo) that would please us with more exposure. The thing about that is...we are a private bunch, as poets, sharing our poems only with whom we choose. Exposure has never been something we (collectively) have sought or desired. Publishing served our needs for that. But I think, to their disappointment, that it just was not received how they hoped it would be, and that....is sad...because websites cost a lot of money. Unless...the guru behind the soup is building his own, (I think he is) it can be very costly to put up a new site. If it does not succeed, they suffer losses. That is sad.

Very interesting points, Craig. I feel that TPS created a quite unpleasant "situation" and later on, when her/ his fingers were burning, she/he couldn't find a proper way to fix it ... losing credibility and respect. The issue was poorly ... badly handled and she/he knows it.

So the monkeys want to take over the Zoo, or is it Poetrysoup, or is it both lol. Sorry Craig, couldn’t resist. You could do this yourselves, organise a body of interested soupers, elect a representative, who would email PST with their collective thoughts or blog them if wider views were sought, but an official panel is never going to happen.
