Life is an infinite continuum, feeding on its own death. Our mortality, real and imagined, lives within. We can always see these truths with a discerning eye. The mirrored images that seem like two, are but one, a parallel universe whose paths cross like a wisp of wind, we are all of one time, like prose and poems written in separate centuries, but of the same struggle. There, always there, truth never hides, except for those who don’t seek it for fear of what they might find. From light to dark we fly in different directions though toward the same destination. What matters is what we do on our flight. Do we see the paths of leaves as they float on the pond, the reflection of the sky beyond, and the trees, who have now shed their leaves but will reflect full in the spring; beneath the leaves, the roots of the lily pads and the stare of a wary carp who looks from his world as we do from ours? We must find time on our journey to read, play a game, or simply sit and wonder at the marvels around us, for death will come in its own time…

Sinatra Snippet

Blog Posted:5/14/2013 7:41:00 AM

Most probably think that the final song at Sinatra’s funeral was My Way but it was not.  When Frank had his TV show he would conclude it by putting his hat on, throwing his coat over his shoulder, and singing “Put Your Dreams Away” and that is how they concluded his final goodbye.

Put Your Dreams Away

Songwriters: LOWE, RUTH / MANN, PAUL / WEISS, STEPHAN

Put your dreams away for another day
And I will take their place in your heart
Wishing on a star never got you far
And so it's time to make a new start

When your dreams at night
Fade before you
Then I'll have the right
To adore you

Let your kiss confess this is happiness, darling
And put all your dreams away

When your dreams at night
Fade before you
Then I'll have the right
To adore you

Let your kiss confess this is happiness, darling
And put all your dreams away

This blog was prompted By Seren’s poem in the Dream Contest

I have over 2,000 songs on my ipod and 300 of them are Sinatra’s (mixed on different playlists).

There is not a single Sinatra song that I don't like...'Strangers in the Night' and his duet with daughter Nancy, 'Something Stupid' to mention a few...Also 'Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime' by his rat-pack buddy Dean Martin...Shirley Bassey is probably my favorite singer of all...I'm getting off the subject here so I'm gonna stop...

Interesting Tim, Shirley Bassey, a Welsh gal if I'm not mistaken, I think got a big boost from the Gold Finger movie--great voice!

Get outa town :D I remember commenting that your former avatar reminded me of a young Frankie! I've ever been an odd duck. While my friends were groving to the Eurthymics, I was enjoying Mel Torme and Dinah Washington. Don't get me wrong (big grin here) I've done my share of Gowain (groans from my Canuck friends, I hear) and Sting, but I always return(ed) to the standards. Hugs, as always, Cyndi

:D Wow that is a tissue box song but in a hopeful way--two things--done some singin' along the way got better as I got older, something in a voice maturing--I do a you-tube, but like you I'm either too stupid or too old fashion or both--always loved the standards and the great newer singers like Krall etc. keepin up the genre--but even if it wasn't really my generation--always special

PS... this is the song I have chosen for my funeral... I know that life is unpredictable... there are no guarantees and we already have our resting place purchased... this is the song... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xtn-x_5d61w

Yes Carrie, If there is one album that's a must own "Songs for Swingin' Lovers" is it--every song awesome. I like his version of Old Devil Moon better than Tony's but then I like his version of just about anything better!
