Hi Frank I think we should not abuse each other as poets if you do not have any thing nice to say about someones hard work then you should say nothing at all, we all come here for the love of words nad poetry and freindship which you and quite a few others have offered me in abundance i thank you all for that, and may those who think of leaving due to insults stand tall and stay with us godd buddy, all the best Owen

Becca, I only vaguely recall your blog on rape, and really did not keep up with the comments. Honestly though, there are many good people here, far more in numbers than the jerks, so why not give it another chance. In a community atmosphere like this, we can really only agree to disagree, and hopefully no one gets hurt over that. Hateful comments are not acceptable, but many will disagree, and do not really intend to be hateful, they are just disagreeing. In time, your skin will thicken. love and hugs, Catie :)

frank, I have made myself late for the gym and I really wanted to read your comments you got. Anyway, just really fast: I don't know Becca well, but I sure enjoyed her poetry and I hope she does not leave. Like someone famous once said, :Why can't we all just get along?? (who said that anyway?)

Glad you put up this blog, Frank, and hopefully Becca will reconsider. We need poets like her on the soup. Thank you. Cyndi

it seems to be the case that every so often these sort of situations blow up; I wasn't here in the early days but from what I've read in the comments made back then it does seem that there was a more lighthearted and supportive atmosphere; it may be that the soup is a microcosm of the wider world and reflects a general increase in stresses and frustrations which were not as prevalent back then...let's hope there will be a return to happier times :)

@ Sandy. Rebecca told me why she removed her blog about "rape and the Bible"...Neither Deborah, nor the rape, nor the Bible had anything to do about it. She had another reasons. And regarding the TPS blog about "sexually explicit" poems, if someone was a "little" sarcastic it was me ...and I've already apologized to Rebecca.

People who are thoughtful, would never cause hurt feelings......it is as simple as that. If a comment is made on a poem in a constructive manner (and not as a personal insult)... most people can receive it graciously without feeling attacked. If we listen to our mother's advice..."If you can't say something nice...don't say anything at all".......it is still good advice. I remember receiving a mean remark from one person who has commented below that caused me to soupmail her and ask "why?" .... It was unnecessarily mean spirited, and had nothing to do with who I was or what I was saying. I still don't quite understand why people need to cause unpleasantness. I am not sensitive, and have a tough skin, but when something comes for no reason...I have to stand up to it.

CARRIE! Your's is probably the exemplary standard of 'Grace and Class' everyone here should strive to emulate. And there is no other Soul, i look more forward to...to grace a blog of mine than yours...thank you for your input!

cont..........If you don't like a poem or even the writer...just leave them alone. No comment is necessary.....and you have no idea what may be happening in their personal life. Any pain you cause, may simply be the last straw to break their spirit. (My 2 cents worth! Thanks Frank for the opportunity to speak out....there is enough hurt/pain/hate in this world)!

A sad situation indeed. For over three years, I had been on the sideline watching fights and bickering from afar but never getting caught up in the middle and always free from hate mail. Didn't quite make it to four years, sad to say, as the haters have now found me. But hey, as Winston Churchill once said: "You have enemies? Good. That means you stood up for something, sometime in your life." Sorry to see Becca go - seems like we only just got to know ya. Joe

Sorry you think my comment is mean. I only came here to vent like everyone else. Please do not use my words as an example to shun poets away from me. I have nothing against no one here. The only one poet i cannot stand leaves sexual comments on my soup mail. She's under a females name.

Like everyone else here I'm a little blunt when I speak. I am not here to debate anything against you or any other poet. I was simply venting and adding concerne to the reasons. I can not see why you would leave. Either then all the drama one obnoxious male poet caused. I do not like seeing poets leave the soup. Or talk about leaving. Why not make peace and stay? Many of the poets on the soup come with thin skin. Your a lovely poet

I had no idea Becca had left, I didn't read the blog Sandy referred to but I can see it might have stirred the pot a bit, i have had hate mail in the past too, but I didn't let him drive me off, maybe after she's had time to think about it she will be back, its sad when talented poets leave us

I must say I am perplexed by all this. I don't know if I even knew this person or not. But these things should not go unreported. Sad, so sad.

You have every right to be mad frank. Poor becca. It is sad to see her delete her poems. I believe she has reason either than hate mail. Isn't she the one who rowed up a blog about rape. How she did not agree with one of our all time lovely PMers Deb's comment on what the bible portrays about rape. I think even then she removed her blog over the trouble she ignited. I also followed other blogs where she spoke a little out of hand in a sarcastic way towards another poets. Maybe that is why she had hate mail. Who knows? No one is innocent in this ball game. I watched her use another poets name during a debate with a drawn out poet who made no difference on the soup. I truly feel bad she felt she had to remove her poems. But instead of pointing fingers we should all look away when certain blogs or poems bother us. Why speak up if we can not handle the heat. I have nothing against no one here. In a way I assume we are all bored of life and come here to vent one way or another

So sorry to hear Becca has left, we had a budding friendship. Friends don't have to agree on everything, and it should be possible to leave comments which are not hate filled? perhaps Becca will return when she has had some time to heal certainly the number of supportive folks here out weighs the ones who write hate mail?

When I first started to post Frank, I was welcomed to a' haven of peace', that seems so long ago and so far away. As Seren says when it happens both she and I have found friends that support and not bitch, and it is those supportive friends that keep me here. It is such a shame that people cannot live and let get on with things. Sorry another of your friends has left Frank maybe after reading your blog she may consider another go. Happy New Year, it never lasts long does it!!!

Amen to that, Frank. Funny that it seems to me to be the same culprits time and again. Yes, I had the same "warm welcome". The only reason that I am still here is that I enjoy a large number of poets' work AND their opinions - such as yours. This habit some have to send hate mail to especially new poets (most with potential), MUST STOP.
