Bloggers PhotoI'm just an average 60+ year old American, raised on a farm in Connecticut. Through the years as a student, U.S. Marine, husband, father and Grampa, I have learned many things in life, the value of freedom, faith, family and to respect all people.  These constant truths have guided me in life and made me the man I am today. In today's world to many people have forgotten this, instead they seek the biggest bank account, best home and the newest things or they expect life to be easy and all their needs should be given to them.
My poems are meant to get people thinking and having the conversations, which I believe are necessary to improve the future of our children.

A Tear is a drop of the pain we hold inside.

Spring flowers that open to greet the sun

Smell the fragrance of earth's impending rebirth

All life feels the sun and begins to feed,

children play in leaves as tree's shed them to renew

If love, hope, joy, children can survive. so can I

Spring is our time to set all things straight

Teach the joy in life to family shedding tears

It's why I put words together telling stories of life, faith and inspiration

Why do life's Angels, in the light of day
Shed their earthly robes, and walk away

Is it, man's forgotten, how we should treat a friend
In my life's journey we had truths, you could depend

Now these truths seem blurred, all for what end
has our greed and arrogance, dictated this trend

As some seek only wealth while forsaking friends
Is this now our destiny, or can man transcend

Can man redeem the grace, we had when young
While many men hear only the devil's tongue

When the morning sunlight greets the earth
hear your prayers, what is an Angel worth?

Thank you for reading. I'm hoping words can spark my grand-children into having active conversations about the future, instead of dwelling in the present. Hopefully words won't become as outdated as conversation seems to be, but with text lingo you never know peace, light and love

It's a beautiful poem, thoughts I wish more people would ponder. I love your bio.. it's nice to find someone who wants to help humanity with his writing. I don't know if I've read your poems yet, but I'm definitely going to, now that I've read this. Thanks for posting this.

Thanks for reading and your comments. In this new generation it seems having actual conversations with neighbors has become outdated, giving way to e-mail and texting. I wonder if having the newest innovation is worth the cost of what we're giving up. peace, light and love

I agree with you, Tom. What we had valued as truths, had lost its tender in recent years. If we could impart just a fraction of this wisdom to our children, we can count ourselves successful and rich in the eyes of Life.

Whats that saying "you can lead a horse to water but, you can't make them drink" and here I am hoping to make them read. My fortunes were to live the life I chose, I'm hoping my grand-children will have the same riches
