Gordon Joe Orton Kyle Ralston's Blog
Hi people my name is Kyle Ralston but in honour of my Grandad Gordon Rastall and my playwrite relative Joe Orton I write my song lyric like poetry under the name Gordon Joe Orton. I decided to take the plunge and finally start uploading the poetry I've written over the years because honestly I don't know. To receive feedback and comments (both good and bad) with constructive criticism from people other than friends and family is something I feel is pure and unbiased and will know the truth of how people take the works I've written. Regardless of how bad the comments or good I'll smile either way as the time taken to read my interpretations of things in my life and to give feedback is a great compliment. I write about the dreams I've had and how I read them, dealing with depression (of which I'm a sufferer), love (both returned and unrequited), Insomnia and so on. As I said the way I write is very much in the style of song lyrics so expect to see parts repeated and change of styles during the course of the poem, I write in this way as I feel more inspired by musicians than poets. But that isn't to say I don't love poetry its quite the opposite I love poetry it's just I feel music lyrics suit me more as a style, but then again are not music and poetry one and the same just in different forms? I've written too much now and all that is left to say is no matter what you think of the things I write; like or hate I say Thank you for reading

Just recently I refound my love for Nick Drake. I mean "Bryter Layter" is a stroke of genius in my opinion, and the song "Way to Blue" ranks up there as one of my all time favourites. His story and his posthumous fame is a sad one and how he had no fame when he was alive with these amazing albums in his possession is beyond me. But staying on the topic I can't help but feel sad when I compare the music of today with the music of the past, slowly to me so much of today's music sounds wooden, lifeless and almost the same in some cases. So if anyone has some suggestions as to a good band/musician for me to listen please please pleeeeeeeease let me know. And so as I mainly talked about him and the song I love so much here is the opening verse:
"Don't you have a word to show what may be done Have you never heard a way to find the sun Tell me all that you may know Show me what you have to show Won't you come and say If you know the way to blue?" -
"Way to Blue" by Nick Drake from the album "Five Leaves Left"
