A Dream of Innocence

Blog Posted:10/8/2012 7:38:00 AM

In a dream I found myself walking along the shores of New York city in search of a post office. Why this particular scenerio I do not know but, suddenly I became aware that I was being accompanied. As I turned to my fellow journeymen I noticed them to be my sons. The odd thing being that they were to different versions; One as he is at present day and the other being of the age of four or so.

As I continued in my walk it dawned upon me that I might check on the well being of my younger boy who's name was Jacob. So holding his hand I stopped, turned and kneeled to his level as I askd him "are you okay?" His reply came in the affirmative. I asked him once again and underneath a mop of golden hair he replied again in an innocent voice.

        "I am alright, dad."

Again, I became aware of something I had not noticed before, he was over dressed for the warm autumn day. He had a winter coat on that looked several sizes too big for  such a small boy. Also underneath this he was wearing a sweater along with a pair of over sized winter gloves. When then, I realized he was soaking wet as if he had fallen in the bay. This awareness drew my concern to a higher level thinking him now freezing. I frantically asked again. "Are you alright?" He assured me again with no clear distress upon his face that he was. So my assumption reverted back to my first concern. "Well, you must be awful hot in these clothes." And when I began to remove his coats I caught a whiff of a foul but, recognizable ordor. So now a new silly question escaped my lips. "Did you poop?"

I had never given much thought to how this inquirey would affect my young boy. As I looked into his eyes it became apparent this was a serious matter. The despair that came across that innocent face put my heart into a tailspin as I heard his reply.

"Only in my pants, daddy, only in my pants!"

A feeling of love came over me such as I had never felt before. I stroked his golden hair and whispered back with tears on my own eyes "it's all right, do not worry".

If you've every watched the sunrise then you could picture the change upon his face. Again I turned, then stood to face the older version of my son and repeated all that had transpired. We both laughed at the innocence of the experience and joyed in our love for each other. I put one arm around my oldest son and held the hand of the other as then continued upon our journey into the city.

That's an interesting dream to have, and what is important was the feeling of love it invoked in you.

My wife suggested that the younger version may have been my grandson, my son's son. She may be right like she always is.

I have heard that dreams can foretell events, but mostly I think they are combinations of past events in new and different versions, like your sons both being with you but at differing ages.
