Shimmering girl, sheerest of hearts,
A special gift when friendship starts.
Full city bus, she'd offered a sweet,
Shining with joy from head to feet,
We talked, laughed; she said I had smarts.
Our stop was shared, but life comparts,
Still, her big hug was a work of art,
Daily,?? dark clouds she would defeat
... Shimmering girl
Insight she did gladly impart,
Rain or snow, my gal pal stalwart,
Down syndrome angel, love concrete.
Closely we'd traveled, seat to seat,
O, how wisdom set her apart.
Dedicated to Lynn, a wonderful and very wise woman who works hard, never complains, always smiles, loves deeply and was born with down syndrome.
Posting this is for a new friend, Chan, and all those who believe that different is beautiful and that no one is dis-abled ... we are all, every single person on this planet, challenged in some way some by fear, prejudice, indifference, heartbreak, regret, pride, and some by a deep hurt
The rest is, whether it be a wheelchair, a law degree or the perfect face of a Botticelli, just a bookcover ;)
GOD BLESS OUR LAYERS
LOVE TO ALL SOUPERS
