First I was me,

Selfish as can be,

Wanting everything from A to Z

And wanting it all for me.

Then I became we,

A part of an us.

I learned to share, give and take

I learned how to trust.

Next I was you,

Believe me it's true.

I would rather give than receive,

It was you I wanted to please.

Now I am them,

A family man.

Giving my children,

All that I can.

If you look real close,

It is easy to see,

I am older and wiser,

And no longer a me.

Walk A Mile in Her Shoes

Blog Posted:3/12/2014 12:38:00 AM
Hello Super Soupers.

I have just signed up to put on some high heels and, "Walk a Mile In Her Shoes" to help raise funds in support of a local Sexual Assault Center for abused women.

As further support for this cause, I am going to post a contest to enter poems on this theme - Walking a Mile in Her Shoes - Support for Abused Women.  I should have it up soon.

In the meantime, if you would like to help support me in this cause, you can do so through the following webpage:

I somehow think this experience will result in a poem of my own in the near future.

Regarding my contest, please see Chris Aechtner's blog on "Contest Disclaimer" and know that will apply for mine as well.

Thanks, on all fronts.

A worthy cause indeed Joe, but the high heels--perhaps if an ambulance is near by!

Very nice of you Joe; and I'd choose pumps over stilettos for this one ;)

Joe, I'll check it out .... maybe have some chuckles at your expense. It is a worthy cause, but I am wondering if I should squint my eyes, blur my vision before peeking? Are you going to wax? Shave?(He he!)

Thanks, Chris. I am actually part of a team, with men from my local Rotary Club. We have committed to taking and posting pictures if our team raises at least $300 - I don't know if this will help us get to $300 or be incentive for people NOT to donate.
