I WAS ME

First I was me,

Selfish as can be,

Wanting everything from A to Z

And wanting it all for me.

Then I became we,

A part of an us.

I learned to share, give and take

I learned how to trust.

Next I was you,

Believe me it's true.

I would rather give than receive,

It was you I wanted to please.

Now I am them,

A family man.

Giving my children,

All that I can.

If you look real close,

It is easy to see,

I am older and wiser,

And no longer a me.

The Metaphor

Blog Posted:9/18/2012 4:57:00 PM
This immediately came to mind when I saw the Contest posting and subsequent blogs about the Metaphor contest.

I know this ages me, but here goes:  I remember a skit on the old show "Laugh In" where Artie Johnson, in his dirty old man persona, was asked to use the word "metaphor" in a sentence.  He responded: "Well, if you saw what she looked like, then you would know what he metaphor."

Sorry, I just had to share that with you.  Look that one up in your Funk and Wagnall.

It was great show ... Goldie Hawn in her painted body, bkini; sock it to me, as Andrea remembers; Here comes the Judge; the Flying Fickled Finger of Fate Award; the joke wall at the end of the show; and, Say Good-night Dick - all permanently blazened on my warped mind.
