Bloggers PhotoHi it is time i introduced myself, I was born in Skipton Yorkshire, England, and still have a accent belonging to my birth place. in 1966 my wife Elaine and i and our two sons moved to New Zealand, where the boys were raised. then we  moved on to the city of Perth  in Western Australia.
After 45 years away we both decided to have a move back to the yorkshire dales where we were raised. leaving our children and grandchildren in what i consider the best places on the planet. (NZ-OZ)
Our reason for the move back to the uk was to be able to discover our back yard so to speak, and we have a desire to go to europe, especially scandinavia and germany.
I would like to say how much i'm enjoying my trip here on soup, and really loved the poems posted, my bigest problem being time, i always seem to be catching up, being able only to spend two to three days on here, even then with limited hours, so please forgive me if my comments seem later than most.  I also love football (soccer) Newcastle United in England being my team, then music, all kinds but mainly Rock 'n' Roll, i'm  a avid record collector, especially old vinyl LP's of the Fifties. my favourite poet is W. H Davies, along with a few on soup here, I do not get a lot of time to read these days, but my favourite Author is Dennis Wheatley, also i love  the the Bronte Sisters, being raised only 10 miles from Haworth, one gets a real feel for their literature, when one visits the area.   Harry

O.K I'M SLOWLY GOING MENTAL, BUT BEFORE I GO, I'D LIKE TO ASK A QUESTION, I WAS READING A POEM TODAY HERE ON SOUP, WHICH GAVE ME THIS THOUGHT.
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS, WE ARE BORN OLD AND LIVE OUR LIVES IN REVERSE, THEN DIE AS A BABY.,

Haha, Debbie...tell that to my arthritic knee and my heel spur! You're probably right. I'm just a wee bit out of shape!

After having a difficult weekend visiting both sets or parents I know you are right. The visits difficult only in the sense that our parents raised us through thick and thin,(not sure which is worse the thick or thin) and to find them struggling with everyday things and memory loss is heartbreaking, to take them by the hand across a road and remind them to look both ways and remind them to do even the smallest task .Its is like taking children out and I have promised I will never reach that stage and let my children look after me x

Interesting...Harry...i made a conscious decision around age 16...(i'm 56)...knowing life was getting more complicated...i locked on how my mind could remember my sensation of innocence...later in life.....the light has dimmed slightly over time....but i still can recall that feeling....and utilize that feeling when i write....jimbo

I agree with Joann. I want to do more, see more. I'm restricted by a forty year old body, however! We are still the children we were. I feel the same inside. Then, I look in the mirror. My Dad always quoted the Who, "hope I die before I get old". He did at 52...I was born an adult and feel like I'm getting younger if that makes any sense...

I sure feel young at heart and want to go out and do things I never did when younger.

It is not exactly like that but the old saying goes once a man and twice a child..I guess that applies for women also..Sara
