Who do you think will win?

Oooops! Wrong blog topic.

I'll try again. On Sunday, July 13th, 2014, who do you think will win the big match?

And for those of you who are even interested, are any of you brave enough to add a score prediction too?

or

May the best team win!

_________

And on a side-note, always remember:

Argentina is usually one of my favourite teams to cheer for(Canada doesn't have a FIFA World Cup contending team). But I will take a break from cheering for Argentina, after the cry-baby reactions by Argentine fans, and also Messi's post-game reactions. Too bad, Messi is usually a solid ambassador of the sport. Instead of opting for future commercials with Messi, FIFA should have awarded the Golden Ball to a player who would have appreciated it. But business is business, and a player who was not the Tournament's best, won the award .... even Maradona agrees.

Messi was not "the" best but he was "one of the" best players. He deserved it. Regarding his reaction, what do you expect? It's not the same ... to win the golden ball instead of winning the World Cup ...

What's wrong with crying? It's too much sadness! : D Every team has a "defeated" crying at the end of the game. It's part of the passion, of the emotion ... of the impotence (kicking butts is not allowed in international contests).

I would like to say something about the cry-baby reaction by the Argentine fans but ... sniff ... not now ... : D

Even birdwatchers as long as the bird don't poop in my yard----never mind they can---it's the neighbors dog that I'll have to poison----SILENCE!!, I would never do that!

Craig ,Whilst I'm not a great fan of the current chesslike form of football clearly you did not watch the HollandvSpan/ Germanyv Portugal/Germany v Brazil/USAvBelgium games, these were all more representative of what is 'the' most popular worldwide sport.Happily it is becoming more popular in your fair land and you guys will learn to appreciate its finer points (as Roy says below) just as I did for American Football when it first appeared here on Tv 25 years ago.(Although I can still only cope with the one hour highlights! and not the 5 hour advert interrupted marathon).Rgds Brian

That's very true Craig, based on this year's showing though the US will become a growing force in international football, playing as they do in a relatively weak FIFA zone, and with the growing number of US pros in Europe, and the increasing popularity at grass roots level.Have a good day.

Brian, I think what it boils down to is the eye of the beholder like all else and what you we're brought up watching with friends and family and what sports we actually played. It is very difficult to enjoy anything you don't understand like those who don't understand some of our poetry while to other poets it's no problem.
  1. Date: 7/14/2014 6:38:00 AM
Ha, I was correct on the 1-0 overtime win. If American football games were won by a field goal in overtime no one would watch! Who's drinking the Kool-Aid. The only reason the world watches is that they have nothing else to do. Soccer competes with baseball in the boring category.

It's an opinion Harry, that's all, I think the same about NASCAR as well and there are millions here that love it. It is not an insult so get over yourself because if conflict results it's because of the manic soccer fans that crush people at their games--they are the problems.
Jerden Avatar Roy Jerden Date: 7/14/2014 9:11:00 AM Block poet from commenting on your poetry

Soccer is about the play as much as the scoring. That's why it's known as "the beautiful game". Most shots on goal are saved, and that's savored as well. However, you are correct about Merican sports fans wanting a lot of scoring. Part of the general overstimulation/overconsumption national character, I guess.

There will be no peace until the people involved want it... The Arabs will not stop fighting until they are over run... Then they will regroup and go at it again... There is no love for humanity in the middle east in many political groups... or they would stop fighting... Tho I know many are wishing for it to stop... They are pushed aside and prosecuted by their own. Love of life itself would help end the wars there... Politics rule instead... I expect Germany will win in soccer... tho I don't follow it... I still respect the game and it's followers.

As far as Israel and Palestine go--what does win mean? What does win mean between the Shia and Sunni? Until we find the answer to your final question we will never know, religion which all claim is love and peace has always been an excuse for war and if there is one supreme spirit he must be growing very weary of our insolence! Anyhow, back to the games---I don't give a crap because I think soccer is the most boring game ever invented----but Germany in a 1 zip win after 50,000 minutes over overtime bullcrap! But have fun!NOT lol love ya!

With Ageura back for Argentine and with Messi they have the best player ie someone who dribbles with the ball at the defence and Higauin as their striker they are a very dangerous proposition. So despite Germany's comprehensive defeat of Brazil I take Argentine to win . For those who remember England's 1966 victory Argentine had the best defender in the tournament,ie Rattin and now with the Man city defender players inc Demichelis they are a different proposition to Brazil and are much more solid at the back.My hope for TV audience is someone scores in the first quarter so that it is not a game of chesslike possession.Rgds Brian

I am not condoning the actions of the Israeli government. One needs to be careful when buying into the anti-Israeli propaganda though. As people, the Jews and Arabs are even marrying each other(usually having to do so in Syria). Most of the most militant Islamists in Gaza, are not Palestinian. Extreme Jihadists are disgusting people, with their institutionalized pedophilia, their wanting to bring the world back to the Dark Ages, the 'Jihad-rape', of raping girls as "punishment", because the girl happened to be caught without a family chaperon during sunset. Islam is not a race, and extreme Jihadism is a death-cult practiced by backwater, redneck, inbred psychos.

Argentina will face Germany for third time in World Cup Final. In 1986, Argentina won 3-2, and in 1990, Mexico won 1-0 (Yes, Mexico. The Mexican referee Edgardo Codesal imagined, and consequently awarded a penalty shot to Germany in the 85th minute. : D!!). Who do I think will win? I'm not thinking! : D ... Who do I wish? Argentina 3-2.
