 I am 36 years old, married to the greatest and most talented man on this planet.
There is a lot of the world I have seen, and many countries I have had the pleasure to enjoy from my days while serving in the U.S. Navy.
Now my life consists of competing in endurance racing, long distance horse races anywhere from 25 to 100 miles. I am an adrenaline junkie addicted to anything fast and crazy. I also ride a motorcycle and have immense pleasure in gun and bow shooting, though not for hunting.
My second greatest pleasure in life in reading and writing poetry. Some of my favorites are Walt Whitman, Charles Baudelaire, Arthur Rimbaud, The Comte De Lautreamont (Isidor Ducasse), Charles Bukowski, Homer, Horace, Ovid and Seneca. These are but a few of my favorites.
I am a hardcore animal conservationist. In fact, animals are truly my life's calling. A kinship with Nature and her creatures are as important to me as the sun to a growing plant.

I want to show gratitude and appreciation to the members who put on contests- these contests, if we choose to do them and do them properly, really are the best resource for writing and expressing new ways down the "poetry path" that most people will never have. We are "forced" to do new and exciting forms, thoughts and originality. My kudo's to you all.
And form the point of view of a contestant - I cried, am crying right now, and just how incredible other poets words mean to me. Normally I would say " Oh I don't care what anything thinks about my poetry... it's all a matter of opinion, like a painting..." Bulldookey!
I just read the comments on my poem about horse slaughter- whether the poem sucked or not had nothing to do with the responses. It was the emotional feedback that has me crying. You all who read other's work and respond, especially to something so personal and emotional, are just.... awesome. I feel a true feeling of warmth with this. Ya'll weren't judging ME, or necessarily not even my written words... but the emotion of the content and how so many of you are empathetic to my feelings, and to other poets feelings or to a plight... is just an asskicking - I thank you from the bottom of my heart..... and to newbies... even if a poem sucks and you don't like it- try to look at it for it's emotional value because I promise you all it is in there.
