Unbroken

Blog Posted:11/20/2012 10:18:00 AM
"Will the circle be unbroken...
by and by, Lord, by and by?
There's a better home awaitin'
in the sky, Lord, in the sky.

I was standing by my window
on a cold and cloudy day
when i saw that hearse arollin'
come to carry my father away.

Will the circle be unbroken
by and by, Lord, by and by?
There's a better home awaitin'
in the sky, lord, in the sky.

Well, i told that undertaker,
undertaker, please drive slow,
for that body you're a'carryin'
Lord, i hate to see him go.

Will the circle be unbroken
by and by, Lord, by and by?
There's a better home awaitin'
in the sky, Lord, in the sky."

"Will the Circle be unbroken" by annoy. An old, bluegrass tune, that many have made famous, but they've yet to actually discover who wrote the lyrics. It's a mystery. My father passed away this morning, dashing my hopes to see him one more time, but at least i will be there to honor him. One more poet kisses the sky. I will probably leave here tomorrow morning, and be away for about a week. I want to Thank you all for your kindness and understanding while I have been dealing with the issues surrounding his death.  Death really does love the Holidays. we lost our mother one day after Thanksgiving, and now, my father, just two days before.

My deepest sympathy my dear friend. My dad passed away almost two years now but the pain is still here. However, I know they're now happily with the Lord. My prayer for you and your family.

well, i am a true believer in eternal life. He is not in pain any more, and he passed in his sleep, so God was merciful to him. I dont think it's really hit me yet, but I suppose it will. love and hugs, catie

OMG Catie, My heart goes out to you, my Dad passed just before Thanksgiving many years ago when I was 19 and he was 41---I've always envied those who got to know their Dads as adults and share life and life's stories and hugs and advice (welcome or not) that comes from a heart that cares. I don't envy your pain now and as Cyndi said, wrap my arms around you and will even cherish more my Mom who is still very vibrant. God Bless!

Dear Catie...I was just thinking about you and your dad yesterday and was meaning to ask you, and now I read of his passing-- I am deeply sorry for your loss-- please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers, I am hugging you right now-- in a way, I find it so meaningful whenever someone we love passes away close to a holiday or a special date-- it somehow gives more meaning to that date-- bittersweet in a way but still thankful for the life shared. I love how you say that another poet kisses that sky-- let your love for him soar with him. Sending you love and prayers...

OOOOOOOh, Catie-love, I am mentally wrapping my arms around you, sending you a clincher-hug! I am so very sorry. I lost my stepmom on Thanksgiving and my father two years later on Christmas eve. Both died before they reached 65, so I know a bit of what you are going through. Try to gather as many as those good memories together as you can, before you get to the service. And this is going to sound silly, but if you have a small trinket that means a lot to you, something with a connection perhaps, a rock, a shell, a coin, clutch it if things feel like they are falling apart--sometimes something tangible helps, a bit. I know you are a spiritual lady, may the light you believe in bring peace.xox

Thank you, Sweet Cyndi. We lost our mom when she was only sixty four, and now my dad, at eighty two. Is thanksgiving the same date, in Canada? I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. hugs,.

Catie, I am very sorry about your father's passing....that is rough. You are intelligent and have most likely already thought about this: since both your parents are now connected to the Thanksgiving holiday in such a way, you can take the sadness, and in future Thanksgivings, use the holiday as an extra emotional reflection to truly give thanks for your parents. Blessings toward getting through this next week.

yes, you're right chris, i have given this some thought, and the time of Thanksgiving, will not be a time of sadness for me, but a time of remembering both my parents. I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving, if you celebrate it, that is. i do not know your Canadian Holidays. love and hugs, catie :)

"Will the Circle Be Unbroken?" is a Christian hymn written by Ada R. Habershon with music by Charles H. Gabriel. Later, A.P. Carter, the founding member of The Carter Family, made a version: "Can the Circle Be Unbroken (By and By)"
