Dane Ann Smith-Johnsen was born, reared, and now resides in Florida.  She is a down to earth kind of woman with a nurturing love for her fellow man.  Dane's quests for knowledge throughout her life, and her curious desire for adventure have blessed her endlessly.  She is the mother of three wonderful children, who grew up all too soon.  Why must they do that?  She currently basks in her role as a “doting grandmother...and a plant fiend!”

“Renaissance Woman” as one of her former professors called her fits Dane rather well.  She has so many interests in the ordinary things of life as well as a very BROAD BASED formal education, including: two college degrees, a Bachelor of Science Degree in the Sciences and a Master’s degree in Public Administration.  Dane also earned many post baccalaureate credits (60+ in Fine Art and about 27 in Education.)

Besides the great diversity in her education, Dane is multi-talented in the arts and loves gardening.  She enjoys the four P’s: photography, painting, poetry and plants.  Some of Dane’s paintings and photography are posted on  The following link will take you directly to her art and digital design gallery.

Her family, friends, photography and plants may be seen on facebook

Please also visit her plant exchange group as well.  Especially if you live in the Suwannee Valley area. SuwanneeValleyFlowerandPlantExchange/.com

Last, but not least, Dane is a published poet.  Her book, “100 Poems for Life” is available through and Publish, at:  Email Dane directly at with your inquiries  about signed copies.

Update on Helping Adeleke

Blog Posted:6/28/2012 12:11:00 AM
I am happy to say that we have several commitments to help raise the rest of the money that Adeleke needs in order to buy a computer so he can post more easily and more often on the Soup like he used to do before he lost use of a computer.  It is not so easy on a phone with limited word usage.

Anyway, I promised in the blog, " Shall We Help Adeleke Adeite? " that I posted last week, that I would keep you posted on progress.  I have communicated with several by soupmail who have promised to send a contribution to help out with our endeavor.  I don't know whether you know it or not, but my little town has made National News because of the flooding in our area.  At this time, do to excessive flooding and the inability of the postal service to get to our mail box, postal delivery as temporarily ceased.  So, I am unable to let anyone that already sent their contribution know how much we have received.  I think it will be in the neighborhood of $60.00+ if everyone has sent what they committed to send.  I am very excited about this.
If you did not see the earlier blog, I am going to repost it below:
Our Poet friend,  Adeleke Adeite used to be writing on Poetry Soup often for all of us to enjoy his excellent poetry.  But he no longer has access to the computer he used to use. He has been trying to save up for a new computer and is about two-thirds there.  He has been saving for so long that I was thinking that if 25 poets sent him $10.00 each, he would have enough to buy the computer and get connected to Internet.  (I think.)  I would actually be willing to send $50.00, but I could not send more.  I was wondering whether anyone else could help, too.

So, I thought I would check with you poets to see what you think about the idea.  Shall we help Aeleke?

Adeleke Posts through poetrysoup mobile once in a while and I have remained in contact with him over the years through facebook.  We have co-written a few poems and I consider him a friend.  That is why I am trying to help him.
What do you all think?

If you wish to help Adeleke, please contact me via soupmail.

Thank you all for reading...and caring.
If you have not already helped, Please do, if you are able.  Debbie G. suggested that due to the cost of sending money through Western Union that the checks be sent directly to me.  I will hold the checks until we have the amount we need.  Then, I will cash the checks and send the money to Adeleke via Western Union.  One Transfer would be easier. So, that is the way it is being handled.  Soupmail me for my address.

Thank you all who have already helped.  Thank you all who will choose to help.  May your days be blessed, greatly.
