:/:/:/:/:/:/: How to Copy and Paste Comments

Blog Posted:2/4/2014 4:52:00 PM
     Are you one of those Soupers that seem to have a family, a job, a friend, or a pet? Do you find yourself frequently worrying too much about how to make comments on 30 featured poems per week, on 30 winning poems per contest, or on 30 poems posted per hour? Is your time not only limited but also important? Do you want to become a more effective and efficient commentator? If you answered yes to any of these questions: HA! No problemo!
      This blog is for both Newbies-Soupies as well as those more advanced Veteran-Soupers who would like to add some variety to their already proficient art of commenting. Basically, its purpose is to show you how to copy and paste comments. Although this technique is well known, my method has its own set of revolutionary characteristics that differ from those earlier versions.

Early Versions:

     Using my method, you'll become a "Professional Copy and Paste Commentator," or PCPC (™) and you will get the most out of each hour you have available for commenting. However, becoming a PCPC (™) is not something that happens overnight, but putting a few of my tips into daily practice will help you to achieve it. And once your skills are assessed and you're able to recognize the unlimited options of my method, you'll discover how fun, exciting and challenging is this activity.

The Method:

     Through simple steps, you'll be able to learn how to combine analysis, opinions, feelings and advices in a single comment, in a few seconds, for any Souper, and for any event or ocassion!!

     I'm going to use a Copy and Paste Comment, or CPC (™), "congratulation" (example) to llustrate the concepts of this method:

     Of all its distinctive characteristics none is more important than its ability to imitate a "real" comment. "Nobody" will ever notice that a CPC (™) is not a comment that comes straight from your heart.

     We just need to make a few changes:

* Don't be jealous, I used Soupers' names starting with the letter "C"

Now, see the table above and "create" comments replacing words. So much fun!!

     The success of this innovative method resides in its unlimited possibilities. You can create unique and personalized comments without knowing what you're talking about; and above all things, it will surely show your fellow Soupers how much you care.

     But ... which is the PCPC (™) ??

Tips:

     Avoid using "deserved win" when the Souper got a Honorable Mention.

     Avoid using "I would never write something like this" if you have not said previously that the poem is exceptional.

     When combining adjectives, do not use "charmed" and "charming" together in the same comment, particularly if the comment is for "Charmaine" ... to avoid a tongue-twister effect. Remember, you don't need to use either alliteration or rhyme when writing a comment.

     You should always evaluate your CPC (™) before posting it ... even before typing the capcha. You should look for any inconsistencies. Remember, reliability and accuracy are very important for you and your beloved Soupers.

Not for Everyone:

     Before you start "PCPCing" ... we need to determine if you have inherent skills to become a Professional Copy and Paste Commentator, PCPC (™)

The Test:

     This test consist of 3 multiple-choice questions. Each question has four options from which the examinee (you) is to select only one. There are no right or wrong answers.

Now, to calculate your score...

A= 2 points.

B= 3 point.

C= 4 point.

D= 100 points.

     If your score is higher that 100 (one hundred) you have tremendous qualities or abilities that may be developed and lead to future success as a PCPC (™).

     Question 1: Would you like to share your score?

     Question 2: What do you think about the PCPC (™).

    Sorry to say that I haven't go to the end of this blog. That is because all that you said in the first line applies. I have a question for you though. How do you cut and paste onto blog posts? I've tried the only way that I know how, and have not been able to get my photos where I want them. Please, I am looking forward to "Cut and Paste 102". Cheers Scott. Ps thanks for a few new adjectives.

    This is an amazingly creative blog. This must have taken forever to put together!! I have absolutely no idea what TPS has issues with but everyone including TPS has a right to their opinion except when they weigh it means the blog is not boring and this certainly is far from it. Thanks Ruben! Got a good laugh just like Chris's "Addicted to Soup" poem. 8-)

    you make some valid points. but really how is it any different from all the comments that are just variations of the same thing. they are not copy and pasted but they same messages used over and over. and this is not the only loop holes that have been found and taken advantage of. people that were commenting comments to get their views up. people posting pointless blogs to get the fifty points. lets not forget all the people that join contest for the points even though there poem has nothing to do with the contest. perhaps we should ask what is the purpose of the point system to begin with. and lets not forget "hate the game not the player"

    In conclusion: if you copy and paste, don't cry. And if you're going to cry when someone notice what you're doing, well, then ... don't copy and paste! : D

    LOL you're right! It's supposed to be funny. But somebody didn't understand it and posted blogs and comments, you know. Yes, I felt that I have to make a point, a constructive point. If you think that I'm creating drama, I can delete my comments; andif you think that this blog doesn't follow PS rules, you can remove it. I'm trying to behave. : D

    Now, regarding the copy and paste comments. I don't need them. Nobody needs them. We're here to share our poetry. If someone read my humble wannabe poetry, I'm happy ... if someone likes it, I'm in Heaven. Why ... whywhywhy some Soupers copy and paste comments?? That's not "being nice", it's nonsense, it's an insult! If they think that "it's being nice" well, God help them. If they think that nobody notice it ... well, hello!!!! the comments are posted showing the "time" : D ... nobody reads and understand 30 poems and post 30 comments in 5 minutes!! : D

    I agree whole-heartedly......I have always felt that way from day #1. For me, one comment that was said sincerely, indicating that my poem was actually read, carries more weight, and is worth than 100 cut/and paste comments. Thanks for this, Ruben! And yes.....your blog was FUNNY !! Still is !!

    Im referring to the congratulations comments, the same comments all over the 30 winners of any contest... "nice poem" or "nice win" ... who needs that??
  1. Date: 2/6/2014 1:31:00 PM
    TPS: I used to write more than a hundred comments per day (you can check it out). I used to welcome new Soupers, congratulate every winner from every contest, and make comments on many many many new poems ... it's a great experience: I've read wonderful poems, I've learned reading those poems, I've seen my flaws, my imperfections, my mistakes reading those poems ....

    Waaaaa hahahaha! I meant: if we really want to "be nice" ... welcoming, participating, encouraging others ... we can do it. It requires time and dedication, and it's always positive (in my case: a learning experience). I didn't say that? What did I say? LOL!

    I think this blog may be a little short sighted in some areas. A comment does not have to be unique to be welcomed. Often a poet can just write "nice poem" to convey their point. As far a motives, no one can judge that. It is wrong to impute bad motives. The key to a comment being meaningful is to mean what you write...even it if is the same comment.

If I'm up there at all, it's only because I've been here so long.....not because I'm a big poster of comments (I don't have time to do as many comments justice, quality comments that I'd like to do)... but still........why do points matter? That's the part I don't quite understand? Seems to me that just being considerate, saying something honestly sincere, should be enough.No "points" are needed for that?!

    A few years ago I got into something with a long-standing member (because of misinterpretations), so I should have left a disclaimer on here from past experience. I am not referring to "Welcome to PS!" comments, as it can be nice to welcome new people. Back in 2010 and 2011, I used to welcome new members(*gasp!* Big, bad me actually welcomed new members!? Wow!). I didn't copy/paste my comments, but that's simply because I go for less volume, for an original touch regarding each individual, and....and I am allowed to do my own thing. Within reason at least.

    Okay, for the next couple of days, I'll be off the cuff.. say things like "This poem was so good, I decided to stick to my day job" "One line had me scratching my head, which is scary, right now, cause my kid's in school and there is always a potential for lice. SO CUT THAT OUT!" or "Thanks for making me horny, bub. My husband ain't home and he doesn't do anything like you suggest between lines 4 and 8" So Ruben: want to dance? Or do you want to dance? LOL... dare every poet who read this to try this fresh and freak them out approach to commenting. Vive la resistance.

    Yes, color blindess, I suffer from Dichromacy.
    Phillips Avatar Christine Phillips Date: 2/7/2014 12:00:00 AM Block poet from commenting on your poetry

    The fact is that your choice of color and font color scheme could be improved, and it would be good if you could acknowledge this. This has nothing to do with colorblindness. Color blindness, or color vision deficiency, is the inability or decreased ability to see color, or perceive color differences, under normal lighting conditions.

    Thanks. I wasn't really referring to that glitch. It's the color scheme and text color that you used made it difficult for me to read. Honestly it dazzled my eyes. I am used to doing presentation...some colors should be avoided when giving that type of instruction. My comments were made to educate not to offend.

    Ruben, your effort says it all. I think I will create a spreadsheet with drop-down selections to accelerate the process, which will then create the comment based on the inputs, or perhaps a random comment generator. Best of all would be a screen scraper program which would read the contest name and grab a phrase from the poem to include in the comment along with the rest. A script could automatically log you in and do all the new poems for the day plus all the contest results.

    Debbie! :) You always give good comments when you do happen to pass by. As for giving you constructive criticism....I really don't feel it is my place. It could be that I trust your knowledge and background in this arena and well, I feel inferior to that. You are one of the greats here. Also, it could be a cultural thing....I do comment on one or two poets...OK..ONE poet. That is mostly to correct spelling or punctuation errors they have overlooked, and sometimes on content, but this person is a VERY close friend. well, I look like an idiot here today, and I love the humor and the intent of what you are saying here, but because sometimes I feel a bit attacked by poets who tell me I comment "so much," that is why I am writing all this out. I simply want to explain the side of those of us who are "over achievers" when it comes to commenting!! I was doing this way back in 2004 long before I ever heard of a place like Petrysoup or a concept known as community building! Also, I can tell when I am getting a copy and paste just because a silly little poem I write will be praised as if it were a Mona Lisa. I don't like that. But for the poets who truly read my work and give their own words "in the moment", I am very thankful. "nice" is better than nothing! and now I have to get working on that sonnet for Debs. As you know, I am kind of crazy!!!

    (continued from below) then after my Hotmail and soupmail, I always have this compulsion to do blogs, saving the poems for last, hopefully to savor them late at night when I have my most free time! Reason two I make lots of comments is simply that I want to be read. I've seen so many people not getting comments and I always feel sad when I see a truly talented poet not getting comments. Perhaps they are being read, but if someone reads your stuff, I think it's normal that you want them to reply to you. I really believe in "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Coupled with my obsessive personality, I guess I am DRIVEN!!!

I guess that's why I don't get many post form you guys! HA HA HA!!! No seriously, though. Keep being the encourager you are! Can't give constructive criticism on the best, now can I? ;) HUGS

    ROFLMBO!! Ruben you are so funny! Speaking of CPC, I recently got 2, one suggested the sonnet I wrote for the 3rd verse, which was not chosen, no big deal, but it was the hunting sonnet for the crown of sonnets that Debbie is putting together, but the comment I got suggested it was very romantic! Okay, sure! Next, I write a poem about being touched and healed by the power of God, through my Lord, Jesus, and someone comments about the relief I must have felt on finding someone to aid me in my suffering. Obviously....these people did not even read the poems, perhaps I bored them early on...who knows. This blog is hilarious!

    So funny, Catie! I too have a couple of anecdotes ... but I'm trying to behave!! LOL!

    Catie, this happens a lot here at Soup. It happens to me a lot. What is really embarrassing is when I end up being the stupid one! Once in a while, I will read someone's poem and not really understanding their metaphor or what they were trying to say, I will make a comment that might sound pretty dumb. Anyway, I just try to be me. Hope people will mention to me if I ever misinterpret them. I bet all of us are at least a little bit guilty of not getting something, but it is annoying when they haven't even read the poem.

    it took longer to read this than it would have to do 12 individual congratulation comments, but you get an A for effort. Love the blog Ruben

    Thank you, Francine. I'm glad you like it.

    This is hilarious Ruben. Some people might see me as this type of person just for the fact I am nearly always at the top of community builders. but for those of us who actually read the poems we comment to, I would like to say this: my main reason in my commenting is twofold. One, I am someone who always replies to everyone. It is my nature. If someone says thank you. I probably will say thank you for saying thank you. Also I drive myself to insanity keeping up on my emails. Every person who emails me gets back an email that very same day. If I meet a friend who shares my talent(or maybe I could call it obsession) for replying, that friend and I will be sending 5-10 emails a day. for REAL!
