Frank...I enjoyed reading this blog and all the different comments on friendships. What I like about you is that you treat people equally and what I respect about you is your honesty. I believe that if more people did this, the soup would be much tastier for all of us. What I would like to see is more poems from you and can I ask why some of your poems keep disappearing? Hugs

Frank--Just back from vacation to say hello. I think you and I are like those guys that kick the crap out of each other and get up and respect each other afterward. Perhaps like Japan and Germany after WWII!! Anyhow, you're correct about the mature part--though we can slip now and again. Somehow I think those like Linda-Marie send their goodbyes through God (if I may). Like love is forever, friends are too, at least the part of our lives we have shared!!

Ah, friendships can indeed be delicate but the beauty here is you learn to handle other friendships you have with more care, it sort of puts things in perspective and you see who of your friends stay true -- sometimes it is so hard to gauge, but sometimes, you just have to trust your heart about the friends that you have-- about what was said about how much it hurts when people don't say goodbye-- the optimist in me kicks in: maybe the reason for it is they don't mean to say goodbye-- only a break? Maybe they hate the concept of goodbyes. I have had the privilege of gaining loyal and loving friends here through the Soup and I am blessed by that. You are one of those friends to me, Frank. Thank you for being my friend.

Interesting blog... I believe real friends are a few... Jesus, having 12 Disciples, was crucified with two strangers; Dysmas and Gespas. A stranger helped carry his cross...His friends, Peter denied him 3 times, Judas betrayed him for money, and Thomas doubted the risen lord! Friends are forever, friend-ships sink...just a thought!

Hi Frank, don't forget sometimes people are not gone, life just catches up for a while and they get back when they can xx

I rather think that every Souper is a friend. Even though sometimes we have a discussion (it's never a fight) ... or if we have dissimilar ideas ... or if we childishly take sides ... I consider every Souper, a friend... just because this kind of "relationship" (through a computer) allows me to "feel" (you may say that I m delusional, LOL) that everybody is a friend. I lose anything thinking this way. : )

Friendships can be our greatest blessings.....and yet they can be delicate and need care. That being said however, they should not be so fragile that one becomes too eager to make assumptions quickly, or becomes wounded too easily. A true friend is one that we can know will be there in spirit, even without the constant reminders, even when we live miles apart, or haven't seen each other for long spells......but can pick up right where we left off, as if time hadn't lapsed.... Someone too needy, needing reassurance constantly, is not what a 'giving' friendship is all about. The friends I cherish know we have an unconditional bond.:)

true friendship is a blessing, frank, and you have been a wonderful friend to me...personally I would rather have one or two loyal, close friends than a lot of acquaintances, I've never really been a 'group' person...throughout our lives different people will come and go at different times and I believe the people who come into our lives are there for a reason (though it's sometimes difficult to see what that reason is!)

Hello Frank, There are friends and there are Friends. Both varieties mean the world to me, yes i have words at times with them, I do however when i have rowed and said what was on my mind, immediately get over it and are friends again. Unfortunately some people dont have that ability. Poetry Soup has brought me many friends and a few Friends I am one lucky person. Maybe the person who vanished without a goodbye, is unable to say that word. very hard one to say.....Seren

Hi Frank ..True friendships can last longer than relationships at times..Loyal friends are few and we must take care of them.Friends like family don t always agree...sometimes they fight too but cause they re friends..they always make up in the end.Re 'friends'who disappear without saying goodbye..It is sad yes..but I do believe if they re friends for real one day they ll be back with a hello..Tnks for being a good friend Frank.

Frank, I've valued our friendship over the years and I have made many other friends here, and that is why I enjoy Soup so much. Even through misunderstandings and disagreements, I love when friendships endure. Yes, many here are just acquaintances, but also we always are drawn like magnets to those who we can really relate to. And out of that can come life's sweetest gift: friendship! It is sweet to me, and I know it is to you too!

I'm wondering if I should post or if this is going to go up in smoke like the other blogs or not get an answer to...hmmmmmm...that might be part of the problem. I REALLY like getting a comment on my post...Enough said. This place is the microcosm of the world, Frank. We can't expect EVERYONE to like us or want to be our friend. I'm learning that the hard way. I know there are people here who don't like my style, my thoughts, my words, my nationality....Some things ALLUDED to and others felt...All the same, I'm standing my ground..Whoever doesn't like me...has his/her own issues to deal with. This place is big enough for all of us. I do also appreciate your honesty....

Well I think you are more fun than Brad Pitt. And I love it that you are so frank, Frank. Friendships are a funny thing. Some friends stay forever and put up with our oopsies.. while others leave when the going gets tough. I have experienced both. It doesn't bother me anymore because I know who my real friends are now. Hopefully the Souper friends hang in and accept us for being unique and honest. I am also disappointed when people do not say good-bye. Rude!! That's all.. Betty
