The Founding Fathers of America were Anti-Christian; Anti-Religious

It is surprising when Christians think the American Founding Father's
faith had anything to do with the Bible. Without exception, the faith of the
Funding Fathers was Deist, not Theist. It was best expressed earlier
in the Declaration of Independence, when they spoke of
"the Laws of Nature" and of "Nature's God."
In a sermon of October 1831, Episcopalian minister Bird Wilson said,
"Among all of our Presidents, from Washington onward, not one was a professor of
religion, at least not of more than Unitarianism."
The Founding Fathers of America are best understood as approving of God
BUT equally approving of the prohibition against the Establishment of a national
religion by Congress or the preference of one religion over another,
non-religion over religion, or religion over non-religion. In some instances, they
are, indeed, Anti-Christian: expressing, in the main, suspicion of religious entities,
including, but not limited to Christian religious entities.
The Founding Fathers based the creation of the United States upon Universal
Spiritual values which included, but which were decidedly not limited to basic Christian values.
In being Deists, the American Founding Fathers believed in a God-Creator,
believed the precepts of the historical Jesus to be divine, but the biblical
accounts of Jesus to be mythical, man-made plagiarisms.
The American Founding Fathers weren't merely anti-Christian,
they were against all organized religions the whole world over.
There were moments when the Founding Fathers confused people
with their deviousness to gain the support of prominent Christians.
Before I show quotes of the Founding Fathers, I would like to first quote
W. Somerset Maugham: "The ability to quote is a serviceable substitute for wit."

THOMAS PAINE:
"It is the duty of every true Deist to vindicate the moral justice of God
against the evils of the Bible."
"I would not dare to so dishonor my Creator God by attaching His name to
that book (the Bible)."
"The Christian church has set up a religion of pomp and revenue in
pretend imitation of a person (Jesus) who lived a life of poverty."
"I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the Roman church,
by the Greek church, by the Turkish church, by the Protestant church, nor by any
church that I know of…Each of those churches accuse the other of unbelief; and
for my own part, I disbelieve them all….Of all the systems of religion that ever were
invented, there is no more derogatory to the Almighty, more unedifying to man,
more repugnant to reason, and more contradictory to itself than this thing called

THOMAS JEFFERSON:
"The day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the supreme being
as his father in the womb of a virgin, will be classed with the fable of the generation
of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter." Thomas Jefferson letter to John Adams (1823)
"Christianity...(has become) the most perverted system that ever shone on
man...Rogueries, absurdities and untruths were perpetrated upon the
teachings of Jesus by a large band of dupes and imposters led by Paul, the
first great corruptor of the teachings of Jesus."
"The clergy converted the simple teachings of Jesus into an engine for
enslaving mankind and adulturated by artificial constructions into a
contrivance to filch wealth and power to themselves...these clergy in fact,
constitute the real Anti-Christ."
"I have examined all the known superstitions of the world and I do not find
in our particular superstition of Christianity one redeeming feature. They
are all alike founded on fables and mythology. Millions of innocent men,
women, and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been
burnt, tortured, fined, and imprisoned. What has been the effect of this
coercion? To make one half the world fools and the other half hypocrites;
to support roguery and error all over the earth."
JOHN ADAMS
"The doctrine of the divinity of Jesus is made a convenient cover for
absurdity."
Adams signed the Treaty of Tripoli. Article 11 states:
"The Government of the United States is not in any sense founded on the
Christian religion."
JAMES MADISON
"What influence in fact have Christian ecclesiastical establishments had on
civil society? In many instances they have been upholding the thrones of
political tyrrany. In no instance have they been seen as the guardians of
the liberties of the people. Rulers who wished to subvert the public liberty
have found in the clergy convenient auxiliaries. A just government,
instituted to secure and perpetuate liberty, does not need the clergy,
nor should such a government advocate a religion such as Christianity."

For those of you who confuse the founding of America to be based on
Christianity, the Founding Fathers had a soft-spot for the Baptists,
claiming the Baptists as being: "The most reasonable of the lot."
The Baptists believed God's authority came from the people, not the
priesthood, and they had been persecuted for this belief.
It was they - the Baptists - who were instrumental in securing the
separation of Church and State. They knew you can not have a
"one-way-wall" that lets religion into government, but that does not let it out.
They knew no religion is capable of handling political power without becoming
corrupted by it. And, perhaps, they knew it was Christ himself who first
proposed the separation of Church and State;
"Give unto Caesar that which is Caesar's and unto the Lord that which is the
Lord's."
The Baptists were not impressed by the Deism of the Founding Fathers,
but since the Founding Fathers seemed to have a better dialogue with
them, the Baptists willingly took a more hands on approach with
separating Church from State, and not making the same mistakes
that Europe had, especially when considering the tyrannical nature
of the Holy Roman Catholic Church.
