I live in a place they refer to as Happy Valley, where BYU is located and other small towns. I feel safe. I know there are a few rapes and robberies here and there. But I have left my purse a few times in shopping carts in the store parking lots and still had all my money returned to me. I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I hear terrible stories from others!!

The mountains...wow...I guess you have not seen the movies I've seen... I would not trust the mountains... I feel as if we are not safe at all... sad to hear this story... always~pd

I've always lived where it's safe to walk around... The badies are obviously out there... I guess I'm just not... and when I usually go out it's with my big dogs for a walk... But I don't have anything of value on me either... My neighborhood is a changing tho...

We all need training in how to walk, when and where and who to make eye contact with [and when NOT to] how to shake someones hand...learning how not to appear a victim or prey is VERY important and most parents don't teach it..I walked through the streets of Nepal during a civil war & in Cairo two weeks before the rebellion and no one attempted to bother or threaten me. Head UP, eyes on the prize [where ever you are trying to get..KNOW where you are going!] shoulder's back, carry nothing of value. When someone offers a hand to shake FIRM GRIP! And learn COMMAND VOICE [most parents do have one USE it!]
