Maybe one of the bright spots of the Arab spring....women pushing for equal rights....however....Sharia Law will be a brutal, evil opponent....all Muslims worldwide, must unite against this repression...until this occurs, the struggle will be rough....violence against women must end....jimbo

I doubt she'll be safe in Pakistan unless the Taliban are kicked out. I hope she makes it and hope she and her family get asylum in the US or some friendly nation. My prayers are with her.

This child has won an international peace prize for her work with the BBC and it is on behalf of woman in her country and their plight, whether they should remain at home or be allowed an education which is at the core of this. [Good on YOU Frank for hi-lighting this brave woman!]

I heard about her from my daughter. A sad situation when people can not go safely to school, but it does happen here in the states, too. Usually by gang on gang violence. Prayers for her and her family.

THANKS JOANN, for pointing that out(US)..I have a poem that's detailed, and as real as it gets on this topic(gang scenario)!....the gangs Do Not honor the shooter, they beat them and make them turn themselves in or do them in!

Prayers are sent,Frank.Thank you for posting this very meaningful blog.Unfortunately we see these kind of coward acts a bit too often performed by the Taliban.Their policy is that any females that goes to school should have a bullet through their head..or being stoned to death.Again:thank you Frank and prayers are sent!

Craig why should we all be ashamed What a ridiculous statement.! I didn't shoot her. Her fellow Pakistanis in the Taliban did. I'm an American. I stand for freedom not oppression!

Not only is this 14 year-old fighting for her own life, she IS fighting for freedom....and don't you even understand just a little, that America was involved with training the Taliban during the 80s? Your statement is very ignorant -- so sad to still see brainwashed remarks such as the one that you showcased above.

It happens here every day... for other reasons, but it happens.

Michael, especially today we all should in some way share the blame because in some small way we still allow this to happen---what the heck, it happens in our country here every day, an innocent child caught in the crossfire somewhere, are they anymore exempt form our prayers??

My question is why is the media and women's rights group so silent on her story??

What kind of people think this is justified Frank!! We all should be ashamed and pray for her health. This could be our own child or grandchild and in a way she is.
