     Let me begin by saying that I enjoy being a part of PoetrySoup.  I have been around for last five or six years, writing, reading, meeting and interacting with talented poets from around the world. There is much I have learned! .

        I wrote my first poem between the ages of five - six, after a field trip to a beach on the Atlantic coast on a most gorgeous sunny day. My Papa was so proud of me, he hung it in the living room! lol  Somewhere along the way, my poem was lost as are mamy others written in between relocating from one country to another. It was my 8th grade teacher who first advised me to keep writing.  Always a dreamer, my Papa complained that I was absent-minded and I didn't mind because it was true as there was so much to see and do everywhere else than where I was at any moment. Ah, but life has a way of making you conform to its tons of mundane tasks; however that dreamer still lives, today! 

        Along with poetry, I have accomplished one of my dreams with regards to writing.  I published a book, "Fiona's Journey" in 2004-my first attempt. It's nothing to brag about, yet it was an enjoyable experience and I'm glad I was given that chance to share my feelings and beliefs with others.  It was written for children but anyone would enjoy.  Since then I've embarked on a novel which is taking forever. However, I will persevere as the story means very much to me.

        I live on the beautiful state of Maryland on the east coast with my family.  I have an extraordinary child who I'm extremely grateful for.  We share a life that's enriching with music, people, our love for each other and nature. We both love the ocean and visit at every opportunity that comes up.

        I'm easy going and friendly; loving people just comes naturally. And I still have faith that one day, man will come to see that we have no choice but to respect and love each other or none of us will survive..not even the strongest in any sense. In my free time, I enjoy entertaining, basketball (watching- lol I'm only 5' 3"), cooking, movies, sewing and travelling.

It is such a pleasure to be sponsoring my very first  contest, next month!! The theme is: "IF I HAD JUST ONE DAY LEFT TO LIVE".

This does call for introspection, and I am almost sure most of us have given this some thought one time or another.  Let those feelings explode or just flow onto your screens or pads. If you had just one day left on this earth, whay would you do? What regrets would you have? Would you rebel? Would you change your outlook on life? Would you go quietly into eternity?  Hope you enjoy the challenge and thank you for submitting your work.

This got my brain thinking, Audrey--it's something that's in the back of my mind but never really mulled over--maybe this is teh time to do it ;) --btw Team Poetry Soup fixed the glitches already--yay! Kudos to them--I think you'd have a breeze creating your contest now--I was able to post it today! OK poets I contacted my BBF Audrey .. and she will notify Soup about what is happening.. Nikko tried to post a contest earlier this morning and had the same results.. wait and see.. this is why patience is a virtue..now i get it... anyone need some energy??? I am racing today... luv.. "Sweetheart"

boy, Audrey, what a LOADED question. I ask this one in my ESL classes sometimes. Everyone always says about the same thing, spend time with those you love. I am really interested to see how people here will respond to it. Good luck! andrea
