Contest Update and New Year's Wishes

To all dear Soup friends:

For those of you that entered my contest, please check your entry and make sure your name is not included. I'd like to judge blind. All the entries I have read so far have been wonderful - some have made my heart skip a beat, some are touching and some are bittersweet. I thank you all for supporting my contest.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now that 2014 is coming to a close, I've been doing some reflecting and spending time in prayer. I've even gone back and read many of my old poems and journals.This past year has had its ups and downs, but I feel blessed to have the love of family, friends, our awesome soup community, and a faithful God. I'm trusting that 2015 will be a year of many blessings for all of us, and even in the face of adversity, we have the comfort of knowing we can share with each other through our poetry and encouragement of one another.

If anyone would like to share their New Year's Eve/New Year's Day plans, I'd love to hear what you all are doing. My New Year's Eve will be spent at a kid-friendly street festival in Delray Beach complete with ping ball drop and fireworks. I love New Year's Eve but hate driving too late, so we'll be home early (after the kids 9 p.m. pre-countdown and fireworks). I hope everyone enjoys their night and stays safe...

Happy 2015 Rhonda. My mother is bed ridden has medical issues and is afraid to be alone. I was caring for her. I do it pretty well 24/7 365 days a year!

Not always, Andrea, but 2014 gave me much to reflect upon. Best to live, learn and start fresh. New Year's is the perfect time to do just that. :)

oh rhonda. I am not a good person to ask how I am spending this night. as usual, just me, myself and I at the computer. Or sometimes I am with my tv or writing a poem. tomorrow will just lie around the house! I hope I did not put my name on my poem!!! but that is rare for me unless the judge asks it of us! A New Year's eve with peace and quiet sounds pretty good to me! I hope you enjoyed the time to yourself. My New Year's eve was noisy and New Year's Day was almost as noisy. We took the kids to an arcade. I even played air hockey and skee ball. I'm terrible at both BTW, but we had fun...Happy New Year to you, too, and I'm really happy to be back! Hugs, Rhonda

I don't want to penalize those who forgot to leave off their names especially since the entries aren't new, so I'm having my husband print out each poem, then white out the names. He doesn't mind....Happy New Year. I think a visit with your parents is a wonderful way to spend New Year's Eve. My dad died twelve years. I miss spending holidays with him.
