Hooray ! 


17th of May is Norway 's national day .
This day in 1814 , signed and sealed the members of the National Assembly at Eidsvoll country's constitution. Meeting then elected regent , Prince Christian Frederik , King of Norway .

This ushered in a brief period of Norway as an independent state until the country after a brief war with Sweden to declare a ceasefire by the Convention of Moss . -This agreement meant that Norway did accept personal union with Sweden , but retained the Constitution with the amendments made necessary union ceremony .- This meant , among other things, that the word "freedom" in § 1 of the Revised Constitution of 4 November 1814 was replaced with the word "independent". -  Within the union retained Norway independence and separate state institutions, except the king and the foreign service.

May 17th is an official flag day and public holiday with duty in Norway . - Children and adults since the late 1800s celebrated the day more than is usual for many other countries' national day celebrations including children's parade .
