First blog, myself, my life and poetry.

I don't even know where to begin.  I started writing poetry in grade school for homework assignments.  When I handed them in, my teacher loved them so much she sent them off to a childrens poetry company to see what they thought.  Well apparently they liked them because the published all of them in their yearly poetry book.  So I guess I started getting into it then, but didn't follow up in it until about a year ago (about 14 years later). Now I can't stop writing.  I've been on here for about a year and have 135 poems written so far.  Some are better than others, but it depends on how I'm feeling that day.  If I am in a good mood, great ideas just flow through me, but when I have a bad day it reflects in my poems.  For the most part, I see poetry as a type of therapy.  You can talk about what you want and get it off you chest in a constructive way.  Although, if you are one of the two or three people who read this, I am always open to suggestions on what to write about or new topics.  
        As for me though, my life has been a roller coaster.  I have had the highest of highs and lowest of lows.  I got into a lot of trouble of a few years back, but turned my life around these past few years.  I graduated from college and now getting a masters degree in clinical and counseling psychology.  I have stories about my life that even as I say them they are hard to believe.  I might share some sometime if anyone is interested.  But for now I will end it here, since this is my first blog and I probably did it wrong.  But I hope to hear from you and read some of your comments.  Thanks for reading and listening.  Be great today.  ~Chris

chris sounds a lot like my life I have made some very big mistakes and now am in school for my bachelors degree then off to my masters degree in OT. cory

Chris, I just love the theme of your contest! Many of us have our highs and lows in life. Both of these help inspire us to write poetry. Also glad to hear you were able to turn your life around. I could use some counseling, so let me know when you get that master's degree! Best wishes, Carolyn

a pleasure to know a bit about you, chris...oh my! i'm finishing my 2nd masteral degree, this time in psychology/ counseling too... human behavior fascinates me! i'm pretty sure you'll be a great clinical psychologist; i'm into counseling which is far challenging, i guess.. so much in common... your poetry is multi-faceted, just like you! :) huggs

this is a very interesting first blog, Chris. Sounds like you have had quite a life then. You sound like a number 8 in numerology. My husband is an 8 and his life is always like a roller coaster. How cool for you to have so many poems published young!!

Hi Chris...it is good to meet you! Perhaps some of the experience you mentioned having, will give your poetry inspiration and be helpful to others who are on that roller-coaster ride.
