I WAS ME

First I was me,

Selfish as can be,

Wanting everything from A to Z

And wanting it all for me.

Then I became we,

A part of an us.

I learned to share, give and take

I learned how to trust.

Next I was you,

Believe me it's true.

I would rather give than receive,

It was you I wanted to please.

Now I am them,

A family man.

Giving my children,

All that I can.

If you look real close,

It is easy to see,

I am older and wiser,

And no longer a me.

The Warped Mind of a Would-Be Poet

I just can’t help it. This is the way my warped mind works: I am walking along the River Walk by my hotel in San Diego. Parked alone in an empty parking lot is a Lunch Truck with a big sign advertising their “Patty Melts”. By the time my walk is over an hour later, I am singing this made up verse in my head:

Just one kiss upon her lips and Patty melts into my arms

There is no surprise, one look in her eyes and Patty succumbs to my charms

Not too much of my magical touch and Patty surrenders herself to me

They grant my wishes if I wash their dishes - I get my Patty Melts for free

I am just too weird! Glad to know I am not alone - ;-)
