TO all the ~GRAND-PARENTS~ out there with advice.

My 18 year olds good news & bad news!
MOTHER I'M PREGNANT!!! "WHAT!!"

Just the other day my 18old girl,
we all know her here on the soup as ( ROYAL. )

DROPED A BMB ON ME!

With a smile she tells me MOM-
" I have GOOD NEWS & BAD NEWS "

MOTHER your going to be a GRANDMOTHER" *yikers*

Weeee! I Just have one thing to say!
WoW! I'm 35 years old either my life keeps`
getting better or is it difficult.

Sorry guys I'm still in shck!
The feeling of her surprising bmb has not exploded yet.
I was a young teenage mother myself when I got pregnant
So it is no picnic.

Many have asked me how I feel.
The news has numbed me.....

GRAND MOTHERS GRADND FATHERS~

That is the best news a parent can hear. I know when the numbness wears off and it probably has you will be there for the support and love a parent can give. My oldest son and his wife have lost two babies in the last year and one a 3 months and one at 6 weeks. I cried for weeks as they have no children and are married for 4 years. They are close to 40 so it is so sad. My other son wanted babies when he was 18 and I thought for sure I would be a grandma. He has a fiancee who was married before and she has an 13 and 11 year old. well in April 09 I got my first grandson and he is the joy of our life. They had a miscarriage before him and a tubal pregnancy after him. So out of 5 we have one GRANDSON. They are so precious and such a blessing I SAY this is wonderful news in fact the best. Yes I cried many tears and I wrote the poem Broken Soul at that time for the loss of all four. I know you will be the happiest grandma in the world. Love and Blessings Phyl

Hi SKAT My youngest did that to me.I wasn't concerned about my age but hers!She was 16.But although there have been some ups and downs she is still with her partner and now has six children.The oldest is now 20 and I hope not-for her sake,but it's feasible-my Pete and I could be great-grandparents.Our son has a daughter of the same age so who knows?Congratulations I'm sure once you've got used to the idea you'll love it.And at least your daughter's got you.

This is definitely a WoW! moment for you Irma!! I can really only imagine how you must've felt but babies are always ALWAYS such blessings! And you and Royal (really love her name--wow Royal-- you will be Royal mom! the queen mum!!!) How to react you ask? With love and support-- always the way to go :) well hugs to you and Royal and baby Royal :) btw Irma over here, we call grandmas "lola" so now you are Lola Irma (though I must admit it sounds better with an American English accent, like "low-la" as opposed to "law-la" smiles, Lola Irma :)

Well Irma, Welcome to the grand parents world ! My Oldest grand child is 16, then two are 11, a seven, a five and a 3..and then of course the love of my life "Noah" my son, is 7 ! Leaping lizzzzards; or is that leap froggs ! *smiles* May God's blessings be with you and yours dear poet ! All I can suggest is that you get plenty of lights...you'll be up all night writing your poetic thoughts, cause...we're all gonna want ta know how's it go'in, and some great poems are the shortest way ta fill us all in...after all, changing them there diapers will take up lots O' time, and a poem will make it less challenging to fill us all in ! *smiles* Much love dear poet ! james

its not bad news, i know one thing for sure, the baby will have a loving grandmother, and i bet a loving mother. My brother in law, was a grandfather at 32 and great grandfather at 48. Power to you both or should i say three. Harry

As with anything, our own behavior is the only thing we have ANY controll over, YOU just be the person you want to be!! And from one who has NO grandchildren look on the child as the blessing and the lesson it will be! Light & Love

Granny Irma it would have been weird if you were not shocked, but once that wear off and the little one is there, you would enjoy every minute and he/she will have you wrapped around their little finger in no time!! Congrats Royal, wishing you and the little all the best!! :) Wilma

Thvia's story down here was so funny. Congratulations, Royal. Skat, I do not know enough about the situation to make a very good comment. I only know that I would have been disappointed if it had happened to my own daughter so young. I am so thankful Angie went to beauty school and then waited for marriage, as I did, to have her babies. I'm not a very maternal person. So I don't think I could handle very happily a baby coming into my life that way (meaning if I were expected to be helping to raise it). So not knowing the mother's plans, I can't really tell you how to feel. All I know is this: grandparents are just supposed to be someone to watch the grandkids from time to time and pamper them, then send those kids back to the parents for all the hard stuff because YOUR time for raising kids should be finished by then. haha. Thank you, Chris. If the father is too immature then let his mother know she is going to be a grandma too. I just know that when these babies mature they will ask "Who is my father?" and won't have peace until they find out. It's better to start early and form a relationship with the father too.

Part 2: Unforgettable moment for me: while in the height of labor mid-contraction, I was coaching her to breath properly when she became frustrated, glared at me and yelled, "Mom!! You have no idea how this feels!!!" Everyone in the room, including the doctor and nurses broke out in laughter. I closed my eyes to contain my own laughter and calmly replied, "you're right Holly, I've only done it five times without pain meds, what do i know?" She shot me another glare and without a word began breathing techniques again. Ha ha! Anyway, the boy is 4 years old now and he is the most precious thing I could ever hope to love! Congratulations to you both and best wishes!

Okay I'm going to have to do this in two parts: here it goes... my daughter did the same thing to me at 18 and married her high school sweetheart... a boy I tried desperately to chase off for years! At first I was devastated because I too was an 18 year old mom and wife. But she graciously allowed me to take full control of her pregnancy. So we did parenting classes, birthing classes, doctors visits and baby shopping together. I wanted to be her coach during labor and delivery and her hubby, also being gracious, stepped aside. This may have been a ploy to get on my good side, I don't know, but it worked... at least a little. We also went over a strict budget, financed a car and planned out her educational goals. It ended up being an unexpected bonding period for us and we became closer than ever.

GOOD NEWS. My grandaughter had her first recently. What a wonderful experience. My son's relationship with his daughter improved 100% and it just doesn't get any better. Hard nosed grandpa (my son) went in for the delivery and wept openly after the pride of his life was born. Hang in there. Grandkids are great and great grandkids are greater. Well Irma I have three grandbabies and they are the highlight of my life.. I don't feel old at all ..they keep me stepping and young..running after them and doing fun things.. the two girls are just getting into dance and gymnastics and my grandson who is 5 is so good at sports we all throw the ball around and have a blast ... it will enhance your life.. I was married at 17 ..had a baby right away ..my first son.. and continued ... and would not take anything back or change anything.. this is a great time for u luv.. enjoy and be a support system for Royal as she will always be your 'baby'... keep us updated please Grandma...haha..

How exciting and wonderful. Once the shock has worn off...you will find blessing come in mysterious ways...It is often the surprises in life, that have reasons beyond our understanding at the time! My grand kids are the joy in my life....they bring out the "young" in me! You will be love and support to your daughter! Go in with a positive outlook, tons of love, and this baby will have a headstart in life!!

After that baby is born,you will be amazed how you managed to live without this sweet baby in your life, everything will work out, for both of you, and skat I think that is awesome that you are young grandmother, think of all the time and fun you will have to be with this child.. I bet that is going to be a very "loved" baby, cause it sounds like you love him/her already...

I was 37 when Branden came along and since I only had two girls I was ecstatic to have a grandson, it was nice to be young enough to do things with the kids when they came along, my mother was older when I had kids never really bonded with them as children
