Andrea Dietrich grew up in Iowa and now resides in Utah with a spouse and two cats. She has two grown children and six grandchildren. Having graduated BYU with a Spanish major/ESL minor, she has spent most of her adult life teaching. It wasn't until 2000 that she began writing in earnest and discovering her "niche" as a writer of lyrical poetry. The internet opened up a new world for her, and she has spent two decades now participating in poetry clubs, acting as a judge of poetry contests for various magazines, for the website Shadow Poetry, and for Poetry Soup.

Ms. Dietrich has won numerous awards, as well as the title Poet of the Year 2008, from the Yahoo group, Poetry For Thought. In addition, she has won prizes from the magazines Lucidity, Bell's Letters, Art with Words, Poets at Work and SP Quill, the magazine for which she wrote grammar and poetry articles as well as movie reviews and for which she acted as poetry editor for the head editor Marie Summers for six years. Many of her poems appeared in Shadows Ink, a yearly published series of chapbooks of award winning poetry as well as in numerous other anthologies. Her short stories appeared in many issues of SP Quill and much of her poetry was published in eight chapbooks (no longer sold online).

Since coming to Poetry Soup, Ms. Dietrich has been both contest sponsor and winner of numerous contests. In 2010, her poem "Cinder Girl" was first place winner of Soup's International contest (these contests are no longer held). Z-Film Fest Project, 2014) and the full length movie "Six Days of Sistine" in which 20 poems of Ms. Dietrichs serve as the thoughts of two characters played by Jamie Campbell Bower and Elarica Johnson (directed by Richard J. Here are all poems I have faved in the past. I won't be going around congratulating everyone as usual. I have seen these poems already more than once and you know how much I love them. My next contest is going to be just for those NOT on this list because I want to see other poets try for a fave from me. The very top winner(s) will get the usual glory and my fave! I also want to try out the new type of contest here at Soup, so part two of my FAVES contest is my way to experiment with having only ten winners. Will post it up when I have the time. Mikkel, in case you are legit - Some have been hurt in past by another poet here who changes his id often. You share some common behaviors, such as coming to sweet Andrea’s blog & voicing a venomous comment. There is a rich history at PS, with many groups - from the kind hearts to the demagogues aka The Beautiful People. Once they confirm you are not that lone wolf ghost, your similar sentiments concerning multiple placements with be a shoo-in for admittance to the Elitist world. Not sure about Favourited being officially recognized, but since English is constantly changing, a case can be argued from that. I am indifferent concerning what others think about me, be it fraud or worse.

It's ok Ruben, he was asking for it & he even confirmed it when he referred to himself as 'Bastard'. Two things I like about him; he is so animated & he never really leaves us. Your new member has done well.

Jan, I saw it too on google, but did not see it on a couple of dictionaries I checked, so I was not sure if it was official. Seems Ruben has found the smoking gun.

Copied from google ... verb past tense: favorited; past participle: favorited record the address of (a website or other data) to enable quick access in future. "you can see who else favorited the same pictures".

You're welcome Jan. I know you were just defending yourself from a unprovoked and invalid attack, so you are probably safe. This blog has revealed a typical behavior pattern that Ruben has identified. As you know, I don't often agree with Ruben's assessments or his attempts at completing one, but this one may be accurate.
