There really isn't much to tell that hasn't been covered in my poetry. Love this site, love the new friends I've made. I am a single woman, work full time, family grown and on their own. When I was in highschool all I wanted to do was write. Life got in the way. Now I have all the time I need to indulge my passion.

my current contest is well underway Only new poems are acceptable so the date written MUST be on the entry I find the search option here sadly lacking and am tired of searching for entries to determine if they are new or not Two very good poems will not place if date written is not put on them after my unsuccessful attempt at finding them Please NEW poems only for my contest and DATE WRITTEN

I always like to see fresh new material myself. When I become a premium member and start sponsoring my own contests, I will ask for the same.

thank you Robert, I look forward to your contests. You understand my need for stretching your imagination NOW, not showing me what you wrote last week, month or year. Be prepared to get several entries that do not actually read your contest rules.... happens every time

I understand your frustration, Francine. I try to keep my contest rules simple and easily understood, but there are ALWAYS entries that do not qualify because the persons entering did not read and follow the simple directions. In my last contest, I had entries that had NOTHING whatsoever to do with the criteria! I hosted a "Vampire" contest a while back and actually got a "Werewolf" poem submitted lol. I don't know why some people have such difficulty adhering to simple guidelines, so I share your aggravation ;)

yup, don't get me started.... I love English Quintain and have many contests in that form and inevitably I will get 6 to 8 that are not English Quintains and 2 of those will usually say they are anyway, like maybe I won't notice

Hi Francine, I think that there may be some confusion on the part of some contestants when it comes to the stipulation of "new poem" Some contest holders ask for new entries as defined as poems that have not previously been submitted to a PS contest before...not necessarily one written specifically after the contest is announced. That said, however, if you are specifically calling for people to put their name and date on the entry, then you are write to disqualify any entry that does not comply.

francine, I always wondered why some judges asked for date written. Often I write poems for contests and don't post them till a few days later. Just curious, if I were to post a poem and date it with the date I'd written it two days previously, would that effect anything? yes, good luck finding poems using the search engine here. I have better luck doing it directly through googlesearch! even for PS poems!

as long as its written after the date I started the contest it qualifies, but I have found some entries are over a year old, not what I asked for when I specified new for this contest and others with no date I could not find at all so no idea if they are new or not.... so they will not place, its a simple request.
