Fairy Doors

The Fairy Doors of Ann Arbor are a series of small doors that are a type of installation art found in the city of Ann Arbor Michigan, USA. The first one appeared in the baseboards of the home of Jonathan and Kathleen Wright in 1993. Subsequently several others were discovered in their home; in the fireplace surround and two in the kitchen. On April 7, 2005 the first was seen in public on the exterior of Sweetwaters Coffee and Tea. Since then, ten more have shown up around Ann Arbor (as well as a "goblin door" parody), and seven of the original "public" doors still exist. [from Wikipedia!]

I think we should all go out & LOOK for Fairy DOORS ;)

How cool is this?

Folks are even leaving small gifts for the fairies!

We could leave them little poems like from fortune cookies!

There are tours now just to see the fairy doors!!

Maybe I should make a map! Of Poets & we all could visit who ever WANTS a visit?

OH so many ideas to make a happy day, do you have any?

Oh my Debbie after reading your blog the first time, I went on line to a garden supplier and guess what I saw, tiny fairee (thats how they spelt it) doors now looking in my garden to see where I can put one or two or oh my Debbie see what youve done now ...Seren

OK something more like the bottom one to put on the base of my maple that faces the street, I think the back would have to curve a wee bit and maybe make the door RED so it shows up!

Cher - When I was 14, the size of our family doubled because my father remarried. We moved into an enourmous 2-story stone house built before the Civil War...In the master bedroom upstairs there was a tiny door too small for any of us to get through which opened into a small separate attic...We were afraid to try anyway because we thought it might be haunted...To this day that door and what it was for is a mystery - Tim

Cool, Deb...at the base of an old tree around Lk. Harriet in Mpls. a similar door exists....children have been leaving notes and gifts for over 30 years....someone attends to it, tho i have never seen this person on my early or, late walks! yimmy
