The stillness inside tried to get out
to see what all the noise was about.
Scouting doubt and loud voices
to understand choices
made by insecure over-sure grabbings for more
that are knocking down doors
to find something worth living for,
or knocking on wood to bring something good
better lift up your hood
should you get caught in the dark.
Voices from the park threatening violence
cutting the silence
to watch it bleed,
heed the warning of the dark bite forming.
This rumbling, swelling
a foretelling of selling ourselves short,
sold for less than we were bought.
