 Too Late
          ink bled out in childbirth
          pages curled in sorrow
          crumpled, torn in pain
too late
she took up her pen


Too Late
          mentors dead
          joy dormant
          sorrows burnished
too late
she took up her pen


Too Late
           vexing visage
           crows fingernails and toes
           fading wit
too late
she took up her pen

tranquility
was
her
name
