Soul of a Tree

Written by: Jordan Dickinson

I stand strong and very tall-
My leaves are given every fall-
People come, and people go-
My leaves I gracefully wish to show-
Most people really do not look at me-
For if they did my true beauty they’d see-
Every year I grow an inch-
That time to me seems much a cinch-
For I have lived many long years-
Waiting for unruly ears-
To hear the secrets given to me alone-
For I am silent much as a stone-
But every now and then-
Much like a sleeping bear within his den-
I come to life, I speak my mind-
Some people to me will find-
I have much to say, for them to hear-
Secrets hidden amongst a tear-
Of friends, of love, of heartbreaking tragedies-
But also of the ones of remedies-
Of new found hope, they tell me stories-
Since of the secrets they have no worries-
For I have much to say, to them to hear-
Secrets forgotten amongst my tear-
