Looking up at the night sky

Written by: raskin bobbins

I lay on my back in the grass,
Looking into a sky of lapis and gold.
A plane flies by,
Red and green lights blinking,
Meanings I don’t understand yet.
Sometimes, the space station zooms by
And we say what’s that?!
A UFO?
No.
Back to wonder in those moments,
Reflections,
Dreams,
Hopes,
Conversation meanders.
I’m closest to you then.
The moon shines
Unhindered
By clouds,
Phases.
I’m here
Thinking,
Daydreaming,
Mind wandering,
Past, present, future.
It’s quiet except for crickets.
Good time for thought,
Fantasy,
Reality can take a break.
We don’t look at each other,
Just talk,
Sometimes.
It’s better to look up,
Believing the fiction.
