Fearing Tomarrow

Written by: david blodgett

I'm six years old
I'm sitting on my bed,
my mother walks in
her eyes are all wet.
She sits down beside me
wraps her arms around me tight,
I can tell by the way she's holding me
that somethings not right.
I feel her trembling
I can almost see her pain,
that's when I hear it in her voice
as she begins to explain.
She says David I love you
and I will always be here,
the next words she whispered
filled my heart full of fear.
I feared tomorrow
and what laid ahead,
now that I'm six years old
and just learned my father is dead.
