Fantasy's Chains

Written by: Destiny Orschell

We hold on to a single string screaming for dear life
though someone could easily come around and cut it with a knife.
We are hopeless and we are blind because we refuse to see
anything and everything related to this thing called reality.
We are useless and we are deaf because we refuse to hear
anything and everything that gives us a reason to fear.
We are helpless and we could better survive if we all became mute
because half the words that touch our tongues are lies that don't even compute.
We hold on to a perfect imaginary world of fantasy
in which only the sharp knife of reality can ever set us free.
We are senseless tied in fantasy's ropes and chains,
but if at least one of us breaks away some hope for our sanity remains.
