Flesh and Soul

Written by: Louise Picek

I sit back and writhe,
hating the battle between flesh and soul,
soul and heart,
heart and mind.
How I wish I could just find normality,
sanity,
peace in my twisted head.
Just one day I would wake,
where I wasn't fighting,
hating these thoughts that overtake my life.
I plead,
beg,
cry,
just wishing this thorn would be taken from my side.
But I fear,
its purpose is to be left there.
So,
I sit here,
fearing,
loathing,
trying not to move.
Maybe then I could be
free,
unafraid of the world I could conceive.
