Freedom It Is Not
If freedom costs so high a price in those
Who do not chose the path they take,
Then freedom it is not. And if one life
Is taken, destroyed by hands for freedom's sake,
Then freedom it is not. Why do these stars
And stripes eliminate the worth of life?
When holy words, with crystal beams,
From mouths that kiss the rings of kings,
Emerge and radiate over
The Mass of zealous heads of those
Who think themselves so high above,
Then freedom it is not. But what
Should we put forth to fight for rights
And pleasantries? Many
The wars and knocks loud
On the door of death
Resulted from the Lady Liberty's cries.
It seems that freedom lives only when love dies.
