I sit and meditate

As I sit and meditate

It’s so early in the morning
As I sit and meditate
And look into the core of me
The feeling is real great
As I feel the silence everywhere
The wagtail sings his song
And the fountain plays its merry tune
Though the silence is still strong.

I ask myself the question
What’s it feel like to be me?
Who am I, oh, who am I?
I ask, as I just be
The answer never seems to come
I get a glimpse, that’s all
Yet all the lovely mystery
Is oh, so wonderful.

With the meditation over
I sit and write a song
As my muse, she shows her face
I can feel her presence strong
When the mind is filled with silence
To write is such a breeze
The words they just flow out of me
With so much wondrous ease.

a very lovely poem, Peter. I also meditate. I think that we are still evolving, and so in regards to the question of whom am I, I think the answer will change every now and then. Love and hugs, Catie :)

Meditation is good for the soul Peter. It makes everything within us rejuvenated once again. Nicely done.. Hugs and love Gail

i love the last verse, peter! it's not often that "the mind is filled with silence," but you're right - that is the best time to write. this is a poem that all writers will be able to relate to...
