Alone

Unable to sleep, I was walking
silent streets late at night.

I found myself standing, standing
alone in full darkness.

Deep in thought and reflection
with no one near to share.

If I do not think when alone,
is then possible to dream?

If I think and dream but
do not share am I invisible?

The billion cells of my
being cry out for another to share,

for sharing is the conduit through
which I relate and confirm my existence.

By sharing we can perceive internal
and external realities and truth.

There thought and dream
could implode and explode.

Together we could perceive if light
is arrows piercing the deepest darkness,

if waves of dusk wash
the fading sun to other distant shores.

                             Alone 10-28-16

Very profound piece, Brian, and very perceptive. The last two lines are a real licker. Love it. regards, Viv
