Haunted House

Screams in the night give me a chill
I take one step further then stay very still
The moon is bright and the air is crisp
A ghost glides by me, a frothy white wisp

I look all around me to see what is next
My phone in my hand wanting to text
My mom is at home and I’m out with my friend
Making my way to the treats at the end

Without warning out jumps a man with a knife
Stuck to his head as the blood drains his life
My heart is pounding and racing in fear
I’m frozen and not sure of the way that is clear
I turn to my right, ready to run
As a bulging eyed monster says he’s not done

I bolt to my left as fast as I can
Past the graveyard, the skeleton and the boogey man
Finally making my way across the floor
I grab my goody bag and fly out the door

I look at the sky as I shake from the fright
My breath makes little clouds in the night
I turn to my friend as we smile and act tough
Then we open our goodies and laugh it all off
