Today I Planted Lavender

Today I planted lavender
 Not waiting for official news
Spring has sprung inside my head, and so
I plan to plant, refresh, renew
Ignore the forecast on Global News
Gather those buds, time will connive
To wither them soon enough, ya think...alive!

It is easy to start, get distracted, put off
Second guess, other people know best
But be my guest~ Breathe in the purity,
Life anew, sunny skies, fresh dirt
As I brush the residue off my skirt
I meant it friends, warm weather is here to stay
I've even put winters clothes away.

No April showers dull my glee
Spring is short~ that's old history, and yet
As I caress each perfect leaf, eager to feel sunshine sweet
I am convinced that I can squeeze
The lemonade of springtime, get a jump
On my wintry world~extend the time, so
Hold this potted plant for me.
 Hold it like an offering.
