WHISPERING WINDS

SOMETIMES THE WIND BLOWS IN A STRANGE KIND OF WAY
YOU WANT IT TO LEAVE
YET YOU WANT IT TO STAY
PERHAPS THAT'S THE GHOST THAT WE HEAR
A DISTANT MOAN
SO FAR YET SO NEAR
SOMETIMES IT'S FAINT
BUT YOU'RE SURE YOU CAN HEAR
A SAD VOICE CARRIED ALONG
AND WHEN IT IS STILL AND WHEN IT IS CALM
THAT IS THE END OF IT'S GHOSTLY SONG
SOMETIMES IT SOUNDS LIKE OCEANE'S WAVES
SO MUCH THAT I CAN'T HELP BUT WONDER
IF I COULD ONLY LISTEN, NOT SEE
WHAT WOULD I THINK THIS SOUND TO BE?
THE RUSTLING OF THE BLOWING LEAVES
OR WAVES CRASHING ON A STORMY SEA?
SOMETIMES IT'S ALL IN HOW YOU PERCEIVE
AND EVEN WHAT YOU LONG TO BELIEVE
JUST A BREEZE, A GUST, A GALE
OR A SONG, A SECRET A SOUL LONGS TO TELL

Thought provoking poem Lori! Sometimes I think it's better not to think too deeply of what could be behind the wind - the answer may turn out to be terrifying! Well written!
