What a Wasteland

It wasn’t supposed to end like
this, it was supposed to be good,
so good that Lifetime would make
a terrible movie about it. So good
that people would watch this
movie, waste an hour or two
of their lives just to get a taste
of what you and me had. But it
was bad, so, so, bad. So bad that
one day National Geographic would
make a documentary about the
worst disasters in history and
we would be up there, I mean not
worse than the Holocaust but definitely
giving the atom bomb a run for its money.
You were a cheap knockoff of the
Manhattan Project, genius, yes, and
you seemed like such a good idea at
the time but when the bomb dropped
and we were no more and we
walked away alive but radioactive,
when I realized that love is an
unspoken form of masochism,
when good turned bad turned never
again, when I realized that I was fallout,
I knew I could never let you go.
