Season's Dance

In the beginning, while in the youth of life's earth;
sweet singing robins entrusted of me,
blue fragile eggs;
Until time - revealed shelled birth

I rocked, swayed, then soothed
to a breeze sung lullaby - Proudly I watched,
impatiently moved - at their attempted first-winged flight
then welcomed them back, against the wind
as they returned when day was taken in by night

I clutched the tender red breast;
as its heart beat of that my own
comfort, both we shared;
during the spring of their home

As leaves let go that part my life;
for death; white on winter's ground
I pre-pared; for the snow-cold hare
nested gratefullness;
for the needed warmth he had found

Dreams longed, in arms returned;
during those frosts of naked nights
my so-loved feathered friends;
from their instinctive survival flight

Hundreds, then thousands of years
I died, yet, still I lived; love, the wiser
to life's truths - joyful for the Robin's tune
that lay etched upon my roots

    Thank you for your kind words~ This is the voice of an old old tree that is reflecting on the joy the newly hatched blue birds brought her throughout the spring seasons of her life........
