2009

As we bid farewell to 2008
I reminisce about all the good days
All the sweets that we ate
All the good friends that we bade
Goodbye to in the past year
And gear up to face the exams that come near.

This is my 16th new year
And this one is very dear
As I'll almost be of age
The next time this day comes along

This is last I can spend
With my present friends
As I move in March 2009
Hoping I will be fine
In a new place I know nothing about
And I say good-bye devout
To all the memories of 2008
The fun we had the friends we made

**I'm not sure of the usage of the word devout as I am using it for the first time. Please
let me know if it's right else I'll change it to some other word. I'd used it to rhyme
with 'about' by the way.

Young one, blessings to you on your journey. Yes, it is good to take the wonderful memories of 2008 and enjoy them. I'm not sure what you are trying to convey with the word devote in this poem but it doesn't seem quite right to say good-bye to it. Keep on writing. I wish you a wonderful New Year! Karen
